You don't honestly believe that do you?
I do. You guys realize if GMs were fired for not doing imaginary trades sceemed up on message boards we'd be fireing Ainge every year right? I mean, some of you have literally called for him to be fired every year. "OMG he traded Antoine Walker?!?!?!? I'll drive him to the airport!!!!" It's every single offseason. You'll get that right?

Exactly. I’m more willing to believe the delay over the last 24 hours was Gordon trying to get the Pacers (or even to stay with the Celtics) to increase their offer. Neither bit.
I’m actually more confused why people aren’t seeing this. Gordon isn’t walking away from $20 million. Most players don’t
People aren't seeing it cause emotions are running high. Give it a few days.
I swear I'm not making excuses for Danny. If it comes out that Danny played hardball and Charlotte came out of nowhere at the 11th hour with this huge contract, then I agree it's on Danny for not jumping on Indy deal earlier and preventing that from happening. But if it comes out that Charlotte had this offer out there, and it's not on Danny or Indy or anyone else. It's on Jordan and Hayward.
I would be outraged if Danny matched 4/120 for Gordon Hayward at this point. That would be terrible for us long term.
Can you match UFA deals?

Sickening. This is indefensible. Especially when he could've dumped him at the deadline.
Ainge looks like a complete chump. Dude needs to go. It’s beyond enough.

Completely separate scenarios here. Just like Horford last year, Celtics would be dumbasses to match that offer
The Pacers would also be idiots to match that offer. Hence the trade talks dying.
And how do we know that Ainge not negotiating didn't drag this out long enough for the Hornets to jump in? If we did a deal right away, the offer may not have come in. If those saying that this deal is too big for Hayward to refuse, if it was there at 6pm on the 20th, he would have taken it. Ainge being stubborn could have blown this in two different ways.
We don’t know, but teams usually have their top offers out to players within a minute of FA. I’m willing to bet Gordon had this offer in his hands at 6:01 PM yesterday from the Hornets. Teams don’t wait a full day to finally make their offers, especially with their top targets. Considering the money Gordon got, the Hornets likely had him as a number 1 priority.

Gordon wanted to go to the Pacers. When Charlotte turned up with their offer, it proved too good a deal to pass up, trumping returning to Indiana. Simple as that.

a 4 year deal was a non-starter, especially at $30 million per year.
You're insane if you're mad the Celtics didn't offer him that. This is Horford 2.0 where the board was in shambles after he signed with Philly.

There was no simple deal to be made. Hayward got an offer of 30 million per year. Clearly neither Pritchard nor Ainge were interested in that kind of money.

The Hornets are so f'ed up with that albatross of a contract they gave it to Hayward.

This is the deal I expected the Knicks to be offering, I suspect this deal by Cha was always on the table but Hayward gave Indy and Boston time to work something out. Didn’t happen, all that remains to be seen is what they get from Charlotte coming back

Agreed. Ainge/Gordon agreed to extend the deadline. If you want to play that card then Ainge made the mistake there. Either way Danny messed this up.

Let Horford walk. Got nothing in return.
Let Irving walk. Got nothing in return.
Let Hayward walk. Got nothing in return.
Ainge has set this franchise back for years no matter how hard anyone tries to say how “well” he set up the future.
They got Kemba for letting Kyrie and Horford walk.
Who has one good knee and three more years on a max deal? I’m not seeing the positives.

Lol it's a cesspool here. Just like when Horford walked people couldn't believe Boston didn't want to match that offer lol

You can't. I didn't mean "match" technically. I meant neither Boston nor Indy were ever going to pony up that much money for him and that was made clear to him, I'm sure.
