Here's the thing: there is not a whole half of the fanbase who identifies as "Team Ainge". It's a strawman, and believing in it gives false color to your perception of the debates that are going on.
For example, is a poster who thinks Ainge took a justified risk, and failed, "Team Ainge" or not?
That's about where I'm at. We have limited paths for improvement. Hayward for Turner + McDermott either makes us worse, or improves us only very marginally due to roster balance. We were only even considering it to try to avoid the worst outcomes, not because we actually liked it.
I think Ainge saw this as one of very few remaining chances for materially altering the team's trajectory, and tried for it.
He failed. But I don't mind the attempt.
