that's not exactly "lightly protected." much of the value in the draft tends to come in those top few picks. should make sixers fans feel better

Anything less than lottery protected is lightly protected. If you have to be one of the 4-6 worst teams in the league to hold onto the pick, that's almost the definition of pretty light protection.

Its protection is basically very light and just prevents you from getting into that situation Grizz got where they have to give up the 2nd overall pick to the Pistons back in 2003.

I’d say we win this deal until 2025. And in 2025, the only way we can’t win this deal is if we’re not a top 10 team by 2025.

Furguson can play defense and shoot too. I think his shooting can return next season.

I read this trade can't be finalized as structured until 12/8 because Green salary can't be aggregated.
Bui if OKC bring Horford salary into its cap space, can't they split the deal into 2 separated trades?

Let's say: Horford for Green +1st+ Micic and
Ferguson for 2nd.

I know they still working in the final shape of the whole deal

It would be odd to leave this hanging until December 8th. Can't imagine Morey would have this big a caveat to the off season out there with the potential to impact other moves.

There’s no choice once OKC decided to be an over the cap team. Green (and Hill hopefully) cannot be sent out as part of a package (aggregated) until December 8th. They’ll still be in training camp, so it’s not the end of the world.

Doesnt this hold up beneficial? This means we can trade Danny Green and the trade exemption. Not saying, we have to. But you know.. “optionality”

I disagree. I think Ferguson is an actively horrible defender.

Yeah, frankly, if OKC gets a pick 7-12 or so (really depends on the strength of the draft), this could be a steal for them. Presti knows how to draft, and you can get a Giannis, Kawhi, Klay, etc in that range if you’re lucky. Basically just for taking on a bad deal. However, I think with a good GM like Morey, we are betting on five years of playoffs, and this will be in the second half of the first round.

Considering we got a nice fit in Danny Green, and dumped Horford, you had to make the deal.

Danny Green has the second highest on vs off NetRtg for the lakers during the play-offs, despite having a shooting slump.

Bad news? He has been having a shooting slump in the playoffs since after the 2016 play-offs.

Anyone else find his face extremely punchable?

If you look at it Brett set us back big time by drafting Zhaire he passed on Shai, Porter, Walker, Simons not to mention Bridges you draft Porter you wait on him you don't trade for Tobias

Seems pretty simple. Send us Hill, keep Ferguson, enjoy your giant TPE.

That would be nice. And being that makes things more advantageous for them, we shouldn't need to add anything to it.

Assuming the ownership put a limit to the cash spending (very likely, we're well above the tax line), I suppose it would be Hill (9.6M) or Ferguson (5) +MLE (4.7)

Not sure which is the best option.

Maybe Hill and re-sign RGIII to a vet min (if possibile), I suppose.

Well, considering Ferguson isn't likely to be much of a contributor, and Hill is far better than anyone they'd get at this stage for the MLE, I'd think that's a pretty easy choice.

Can they just add Ty Jerome to the deal?

He's a big guard that can defend, pass and shoot. He has a nice skillset.

I agree.
On the other side if OKC thinks to regain some value from Hill even at the trade deadline, getting Hill in the Harford deal is unlikley.

Yeah. It's just a matter of what they find more valuable - possible returns on Hill vs gigantic T.E.
