the trade market for bigs isn't looking very good. Norm is making 10.8 million this year with a player option for 11.6m in 2021. The only bigs making a salary in that range with an expiring contract are Olynyk (12.5M), Meyers Leonard (9.76M), and Ayton (9.2M). The first two would be a big downgrade from Norm value-wise (imo) and I think it's highly unlikely the Suns would deal Ayton for Norm.

You can package Norm with Johnson or McCaw.. so instead of $10.8 becomes $14.6 or $14.8M.

So add guys like Cody Zeller ($14M) and Gorgui Dieng ($15.7M) to your list.

still feels like a downgrade talent-wise but yes these would also viable options for us. But maybe inevitable if we were going to have to move Norm anyways.

Crazy swing for the fences and might require some hypnosis trade idea:

Norm Powell and a FRP for Marvin Bagley III.

If Giannis wants to sign we can rescind Bagley's QO and let him become a UFA. I doubt Kings do this, but one can dream.

You’re really overvaluing centers if you think about doing a trade like that.

Did everyone forget that we couldn’t play serge in the Celtics series because he couldn’t guard the pick n roll?

Let’s just sign baynes and Giles to 1 year deals and move on.

How can we facilitate a Bogdan to the Pacers sign and trade where we end up with Oladipo?

But yeah I like the Baynes/Giles combo. Just a little worried about stability since Baynes probably can't play 65+ games anymore due to his age and Giles is perennially hurt.

i was thinking something similar, the deal that fell through with the Bucks had Divincenzo, would the Kings hold Powell in similar regard or would they want someone under a rookie scale contract? I think i would risk is and send them Flynn, McCaw and Stanley, instead of Powell since Powell is a great win now piece. Maybe even do something on the side for a S&T for Giles where we can save our MLE on another player

I liked this article about Hassan Whiteside,

From a pro-Trailblazer outlet

https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/portland-trail-blazers/hassan-whiteside-isnt-one-leagues-best-defenders-according-nba-coaches

I think it captures why Whiteside doesn't have the defensive value that his stats would indicate.

Team's going to take a step back this year. That was always pretty clear. What I don't get, is the insistence that losing Ibaka turns us into a fringe playoff/lottery team. Losing Serge sucks for sure, but the sky isn't falling.

Aaron Baynes is legit still a good player out there. Honestly makes a lot of sense.

-Big Body that can defend
-Solid Rebounder
-Bring Toughness
-Veteran Presence
-Fierce Competitor

Only knock on him is injury proneness....but our medical staff is one of the best in the league.

Baynes would be ideal, but given his age, i see him trying to get a multi year guaranteed deal, which the Raps wont offer

he doesn't, but at this point we're basically just trying to not take too big a step back while looking like a good place for a max FA to join. The reality of the situation is we're in a tough spot with no ideal players to target at C for a year.

Whiteside - ego, has talent as a rebounder/shotblocker but isn't a very smart player and thinks he's a franchise cornerstone
Cousins - injury concerns, butted heads with people while with the Kings but I don't think that was an issue with his other teams
Giles - injury concerns, undersized, has potential but hasn't proven a lot yet
Biz - we're well acquainted with his limitations as a player
WCS - not particularly good
Len - not particularly good
Baynes - seems like a decent backup type
Mahinmi - meh maybe
Thon Maker - good friends with Giannis but not a very good player
Tacko Fall - lol

I know he was injured, But could we swing a deal for Powell from the Mavs? They currently already have Kleber, Boban, and KP as bigs

I think we can manage with those guys imo. Marc and serge missed 40 plus last year and we did well.

Center is more of a plug and play situation than it has ever been.

You are right. The only thing I would say is how important Gasol and Ibaka was in Philly in GS series. They played really well on both ends. We still need good production at centre position. See what Masai does ... or we just wait with hopes to get Giannis next yr
