I count 15 already on the roster if you include FMIII. Did they actually sign him or just tender him which they can walk away from?

I guess they could release DJ Wilson but his contract is a decent expiring to include in a midsession trade along with 21 and 23 pick swaps to go further all in.

We tendered the QO but renounced him later on.

This also would earn some goodwill back with DDV if they go to him and say, sorry, we do want you around and as proof, you’re now a starter.

We should have space for a minimum player.

Nah, they will probably finish a lot of games together but if they both start then our back up PG is a rookie picked #60

DDV

DDV is not a PG. 41st percentile as a PnR ball handler which is slightly worse than Wes at 43rd percentile

The one big reason why he will sign it is he wont have to deal with the constant distraction of his unknown future. Drops a big weight of pressure of himself and the franchises shoulders.

Yep. There is a lot of incentive for him to sign the supermax, STAT. Lock in that money now, get the media off his back to make the season more enjoyable, and he would still control his future. I am sure they would agree that if he ever wanted out, they would facilitate a trade.

I am pretty confident he is signing it and Jrue is being extended in February. Or at least they have had very positive discussions with both about that happening. If not, they are the dumbest front office ever. And the Pelicans are about to have a boatload of assets.

How’s the Pelicans Realgm board? Asking for a friend.

He'll be the first off the bench. Jrue will slide to point/DJ will stay at point, whichever is left on the court. Merrill won't see a lot of time. DJ/Jrue/DDV/Forbes. Whenever DJ/Jrue are both sitting with DDV/Forbes out there, won't matter who is handling the ball up the floor in the half court. It will likely be Giannis. Expecting DJ/Jrue to handle 40 MPG at the point.

Any reason why we renounced FMIII?? Does that open up a spot?

Frankly, I find that Adams is better that FMIII in the PG role. So when the Bucks gave Adams the 2 way contract, it means that FMIII has become surplus to requirements.

Yeah I just don’t see it or Bud would’ve played Bled+Hill together. DDV+Forbes are just ok ball handlers, can’t see them getting much time on the court together.

But truthfully Cheick isn't exactly what we need. We need to keep the lanes open. We need someone who can move the ball and space for others. He's not shooting the 3 as far as last season and he's not exactly the most crisp decision maker.
And we need someone to defend the plodders in the regular season and that's not exactly his forte.

He's a truely talented big man that has 4 years of league experience despite just turning 24. He's still rough around the edges but he's highly skilled and needs a bigger leash. He's much more than just an energy big but should easily have a place in the league as just that which makes investing in him much easier compared to other projects.

In Phoenix was his first year where he mostly played center. It definately helped his developement but he also clearly struggled versus more physical players that could somewhat match his speed. Here's some tape where he faced Giannis and got absolutely man-handled:

On the other hand he had his most impressive outings versus slower centers that just couldn't handle his speed and when he could play at high octane. Here's some more favorable tape vs. the Nuggets and the Lakers:

He doesn't help himself by not shooting the 3 and allowing defenders to keep a cushion. He used to get most of his points in PnRs or via putbacks but he's also developed a pretty sound inbetween game. Ultimately you want him to pop out quite a bit but he's not there yet. He improved his FT% every year and is up to 87%. He's got exeptional touch on floaters and jumpers. Additionally he's got solid numbers from midrange. At this point it's not an if but a when. And once he's got that he'll be preying on slower bigs.

Imo we could nevertheless invest in him as his floor is a useful energy big off the bench and he's a hardworking high character guy. But with our current roster makeup I wouldn't be surprised if we're going for someone bigger and more experienced.

Cauley-Stein or Vonleh would be useful.

The best part was finding out what color his nails were each day.

With Ersan gone, Giannis is the longest tenured Buck.

Overall, we added a lot of interesting pieces and a bunch of guys that have a chance to thrive in our system. Challenge will be for Bud to configure the best way to use them. We added a lot of things we were really lacking between Jrue and DJ.

I think we not only got better but we got “playoff” better by far if things work out. And at this point nothing else really matters. We went all in to the best of our ability.

Pretty wild. Khris Middleton joined the team 34 days after Giannis too. So its basically them and then DJ Wilson? Is that right? Lol

Really like the squad we can put out there to close out games more. I think our shooting is improved but defense took a hit. Biggest issue is our lack of assets going forward. We need this to work this year.
