Not for the STRICT ROLE of rim runner, shot blocker, lob target he isn't. Also with an actual Pg in Paul, I would much rather have Jones diving to the basket after a pick than OLD STONE HANDS Alex Len!!! Sometimes ATHLETIC BIG fits better than SKILLED BIG, Dalio and Len both have more polished post games then Jones.... but who the **** wants to throw the ball to either of those yahoos in the post?!?! Guys like Len and Diallo are both better at **** WE WOULDNT LET THEM DO!!!

I don't count Crowder as a wing. The last couple of years he has played most of his minutes at PF and occasionally C.

Moore is 6'3 and not much of an athlete, so I think he will play more as a SG/PG next to a creator (CP3, Book, Payne).

So I would say that our wings are Bridges, Cam and Nader, so another one wouldn't be bad. But it's true that is not a big need.

Paul/Payne/Okobo
Booker/Carter/Moore/Alexander
Bridges/Nader
Johnson/Crowder
Ayton/Saric
/Smith/Jones

Rotation in bold. Nader and Moore next to step in for shooting at the wings. Smith the next big to step in, with Jones as hulk insurance.

I could see the need for an additional 1, but I would prefer we go that route later into the season when the need is apparent. I don't want to threaten Payne's confidence. Booker's our real third PG anyways.

The reason you bring in Damion Jones is to get a true big who is content with the third stringer role. Len wouldn't be okay with that, for instance.

If you want to look at it in terms of who can play each position, here is our depth chart:

5 PGs: Paul/Payne/Booker/Carter/Okobo
7 SGs: Booker/Carter/Moore/Bridges/Nader/Okobo/Alexander
6 SFs: Bridges/Johnson/Nader/Booker/Crowder/Moore
5 PFs: Johnson/Crowder/Saric/Smith/Bridges
5 Cs: Ayton/Saric/Smith/Jones/Crowder

Remove Saric, and we're too thin up front. So I hope we're able to work it out.

Smith is going to play.

Okobo will most likely not be on the roster. So only 13 players on the roster. Every team usually has 15 players.

At this point is he any better or worse than someone else we'd sign for a minimum deal? Doubtful, so may as well keep him and see if he develops further.

I agree - for the dollars - Okobo is a no-brainer. Get him and Saric on board. Roll with it - keep the BAE (if Moore was signed with the Veterans Minimum) - and see what happens at buyout time

Look, im happy we look competent once again! I'm happy we can have the discussions of how many minutes each player should get and who starts outta Crowder and Cam (i lean to Crowder and Cam as a shooter off the bench). But what I am hoping for is that Jalen Smith becomes that rookie that Monty can't NOT PLAY!! That he is so in tune and playing his ass off that he FORCES thoughts of starting stretch pf. A man can dream i guess.

From the Twitter account of Mr. Adrian Wojnarowski:

Dario Saric has agreed to a three-year, $27M deal to stay with Phoenix, agents Jeff Schwartz and Mike Lindeman of
@excelsm_bball
tell ESPN.

I think a pretty fair deal for both parties. Suns are over the cap next year anyway with Paul. Got Jakob Poetl money - which seems very fair. He played well in the bubble - lets hope some stability and his role off the bench as the 5/4 type player will bring the same continued improvement.

I think the only decision is bringing back Okobo and the team is ready for training camp next week. I like the last 7 days that James Jones and crew have had.

Fair deal for Dario. I have my doubts with him but if he’s coming off the bench, I love it. He was huge in the bubble. Not way would we have gone 8-0 without him. Next season should be fun.

I'm very glad to have Jevon Carter and Dario Saric back. I'm looking forward to seeing what this team can do. I'm hoping they don't disappoint.

In the span of a couple months, we've gone from a team of nice guys to a team of tough guys. Paul and Crowder have reputations for being hard nosed, tough, hard-working, and most importantly - COMPETITIVE players. Better than the bubble wins was a team that finally cared deeply about competing and winning at all costs. It was really fun to watch. I think Paul and Crowder build on that.

Love the JJ culture shift, and love that Monte is about earning playing time and not handing out anything.

On Oubre -- I loved the athleticism and talent, but always had the strange feeling he wasn't totally committed. Too much fashion and too many distractions, I guess. Feels like it was all about Kelly and that it manifested itself in him never passing the ball. Wish Kelly the best in Golden State, but I doubt our remaining players will be scared to face him. Addition by subtraction. I think that Mikal and Cam competed harder and played better in a team setting.

On Jalen Smith -- From a casual fan who reads message board and watches the highlight/breakdowns, I am pumped about the Jalen pick! There is no doubt that Jalen was BPA and the Spurs would have taken him right after. Kind of surprised he didn't go higher. If he would have had the Terrell Terry agent, he could have gone top 5. (turns out that the Terry hype did not work very well)

Jalen Smith comps that I liked were - 1) Jaren Jackson who can rebound. 2) taller Amare who plays defense and has range. 3) David Robinson as a Power Forward (they have skinny legs and high-center of gravity in common). What strikes me is how light and fast he is. He covers a lot of ground quickly which allows him to get those highlight blocks. Love his humility, heart, competitiveness and work ethic. We're going to love watching this kid develop.

Booker has to be happy. Good GM, good coach, and the best "basketball" talent he has ever had. Playoffs or bust!

I think that this contract is an steal for the Suns.

Poeltl got the same contract and he is way worse than Saric. Plumlee got $25M/3 years. Favors $30M/3 years and he is slow as ****.
