Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
Always thought his defense was entirely overrated. That summer league game gave me hope for him for years and years. Just didn't workout.

Along with Batum being waived, Spalding is also being waived at the same time.
Making roster spots available for a 2 for 1 trade maybe?

Where'd you see that Spalding is also being waived?

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
Let's hold up on calling the Batum waive a bad deal. My guess is they tried to rope a 3rd team with the Celtics and the price was too high. If we can still get some draft capital from Boston in a S&T for Hayward, it might be worth it over the 9M/3 year.

Never again will my first inclination be that this team is overthinking things or having a bigger picture in mind.

And, if we frontload it that means Boston gets a bigger TPE. The TPE amount is the 1st year number. Hopefully they give us a decent return if we help them with this.

Pretty sure after cutting Batum and Spalding we are at 11 roster spots, we still need to sign 4 rookies and we gave away two two way deals already, so that would look like a full roster.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
We are so dumb. You waive and stretch when you need to make one last move to win a championship. We just handed out a 3 year/27 million contract for a player who will never play a minute for the franchise. What a travesty.
Now our only hope is a new amnesty provision in the next CBA.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
Would you rather have 9M to spend or 2 future 2nds? If we're still rebuilding, those draft picks matter more imo.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
These are the 2nds Boston owns, as well as their own.
2021 second round draft pick from Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City's 2021 2nd round pick to Boston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Oklahoma City's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Boston-Oklahoma City, 11/19/2020]
2023 second round draft pick from Houston, Dallas or Miami
Oklahoma City will receive the more favorable of Dallas' 2023 2nd round pick and Miami's 2023 2nd round pick; Boston will receive the more favorable of (i) Houston's 2023 2nd round pick protected for selections 31-32 and (ii) the less favorable of the Dallas pick and the Miami pick and Houston will receive the least favorable of the three (via Miami to Dallas; via Memphis' right to swap Dallas or Miami for Houston) (if the Houston pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyable, then Boston will receive the less favorable of the Dallas pick and the Miami pick and Houston's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Dallas-Miami, 7/7/2017; Dallas-Memphis, 7/8/2019; Houston-Memphis, 2/6/2020; Boston-Memphis-Portland, 11/20/2020; Dallas-Detroit-Oklahoma City, 11/27/2020]
2025 second round draft pick from Memphis
Memphis' 2025 2nd round pick to Boston [Boston-Memphis-Portland, 11/20/2020]
2021 second round draft pick from Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City's 2021 2nd round pick to Boston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Oklahoma City's obligation to Boston will be extinguished) [Boston-Oklahoma City, 11/19/2020]

We can buy a 2nd in any draft for a hell of a lot less than $4.5M in cash, so give me the cap space.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
It's clear Mitch thinks this team is an East Finals contender as currently construed. Make no sense with the moves they made in free agency.
