I’m not sure, but I don’t think his expected price is very high in comparison to his projected output.
Not in comparison to what established players are in line to get. And decline is a legitimate concern with a lot of other options. Personally, I hope the Jays grab him.

I read 60M perhaps more for Kim, is he really that much better than Semien for example who very likely could be had for cheaper and would provide a nice stopgap until we see our prospects graduate?
Semien was also one year removed from placing 3rd in MVP voting.
I mean, Semien is already signed, over 30, and his near MVP season is waaaaaay out of line with his career norms. Last season was within range of his career norms - his near MVP season he had an OPS of .892 and his second highest season in his 8 seasons was .722.
Maybe he does show better into his mid 30s? I kinda doubt it but there is certainly risk and reward with any signing and the value invariably dismishes as the cost goes up. And I haven't heard anything about Kim costing $60+ mil but if he he does, that's starting to push things unless his projections are, in fact, accurate. He may or may not be better than any number of players out there but he's likely better than most of them in 2 or 3 years.
