This is silly

Better than Holiday? He's a top 25 player and this FA class is not very strong.

It's not. The last thing we need is a guy on the wrong side of 30 inked to a long term deal while being a clunky fit or choking in the playoffs losing ALL of his value with no options moving forward.
If it works out, do we really think that Jrue is like, "Nah, I want to move again, to a situation that's uncomfortable, and may not work as well as this one?" No. Having Giannis inked long term puts us in the drivers seat next offseason.

I don't agree that Holiday is a top 25 player. Having maneuverable space also gives us trade options, particularly if we were to couple that space with outgoing salary like Lopez.

With Giannis and Middleton we don't even have another max slot open. If we really wamyed someone over Jrue we'd figure out a S&T with an extended Jrue.

We're probably sending the 3 most valueable players out here imo. Moving Lopez for the sake of moving Lopez seems like a bad idea.

Yeah, he's a top 25 player or right there. Partnow, who I have a lot of respect for as an analyst, had him in the 17-24 ranking tier, and that's about right.
We really don't have that many trade options. No picks available to trade, without Jrue under contract you are looking at Middleton/Lopez, who you don't really move unless you upgrade them, which won't be easy. There is no PG in the next class worth signing over Holiday.
Lets face it, this is our big 3 for at least the next few years. Maybe we move Brook in a two for one or something, but we don't have a lot of maneuverability and the FA class is not intriguing at all.

Devonte Graham is the best player in the package. Zeller is 4th, Carey 6th

Do they still have to deal with going over a salary apron or is that only a thing for this season because they used the full MLE? Would they have the ability to re-sign players via Bird rights even if they are already in the tax? (on the off chance that Wilson or Portis have breakout seasons).
If they didn't extend Jrue, would they have the ability to sign another max or near max player?
I know they can always trade players to match salaries but reading that Giannis article, I really think they are keeping Brook around. He seems to be part of the crew that talked Giannis into signing, he is a nice fit for the regular season, and if they were smart they would start going zone at times with him in the lane and the longer players covering everything else. A zone with Jrue/Craig/Middleton/Giannis/Brook could be insane if they actually practiced it.

There's a top 25 player thread going on on the GB now. I think Jrue is unequivocally in the top 35. I think top 25 is too high.
As it stands on the GB:
1)LeBron James (LAL) - 53%
2)Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL) - 47%
3)Luka Doncic (DAL) - 37%
4)Kawhi Leonard (LAC) - 34%
5)Anthony Davis (LAL) - 35%
6)James Harden (HOU) - 39%
7)Steph Curry (GSW) - 33%
8)Nikola Jokic (DEN) - 42%
9)Kevin Durant (BKN) - 46%
10)Damian Lillard (POR) - 38%
11)Jimmy Butler (MIA) - 57%
12)Jayson Tatum (BOS) - 41%
13)Joel Embiid (PHI) - 59%
14)Devin Booker (PHX) - 22%
15)Chris Paul (PHX) - 24%
16)Paul George (LAC) - 21%
17)Bradley Beal (WAS) - 22%
18)Donovan Mitchell (UTA) - 22%
19)Ben Simmons (PHI) - 26%
20)Kyle Lowry (TOR) - 28%
with guys like Adebayo, Lowry, Irving, Middleton, Murray, Porzingis, Zion, Siakam, KAT, Westbrook, Young etc. still on the board. Given some of those names and possible jumps by other younger guys, I just don't see top 25.
