I could see an Ish/Tucker swap happening. The Rockets just lost Chris Clemons to a torn Achilles leaving them without a backup PG for Wall.

Problem is the Rockets would like more value in return...either a juicy second rounder (our 2022 Chi/Det/LA most favorable 2nd round pick) and/or a promising young player (and I fear that could be Bonga or Troy).

To me that's too much to give for a 1-year rental on a 35 year old.

Do we think it’d be a 1 year rental though? If Tucker wants to play with Russ I could see him finishing his career here. Question is if he’ll be on the decline soon, like you said he’s already 35.

Oh God I hope we don't see that but Tucker's ability to defend multiple positions at a high level is helpful. Bertans/Tucker together at F would be a nice balance of shooting and defense.

Agreed. That would be a waste of assets. I haven't been much of a Jerome Robinson fan, but I wouldn't even give him for Tucker!

Plus it would have to be a player rather than a pick, as we have 15 guys guaranteed already; we can't add someone.

Unfortunately, he's a "grown-old a** man." He hasn't had a good season since 2016-17.

Even for Ish -- expiring, like Tucker -- I would have to get some kind of a forward-facing asset. Even a round 2 pick might do.

Trading Ish for a pick would also open up a roster spot -- e.g. for Mathews.

Of course, this is predicated on the performance by Raul Neto the other night!

So, I went back & took another look at the numbers, &... I was mistaken! His game hasn't deteriorated to speak of.

Houston is desperate for PG depth, and would like Smith unless someone better is available. But Houston doesn’t really have anyone we need or that Houston would give up.

So, the best trade is Smith to Houston, for nothing ( a 2nd round pick would be nice, but Houston wouldn’t think so). We need the roster spot. This trade is unlikely, but we could help facilitate a Harden trade to third team.

I can easily imagine getting a R2 pick for Smith -- maybe a couple of years out. Except, unfortunately, Houston doesn't have any to give for quite a while.

I don't see the value in dumping Smith just for the roster spot. Surely, Smith is better than anyone we would pick up off of waivers. If there's a guy we like a lot, then dump AP and add him.

I'm not saying Smith is untradeable. I'm just saying Smith has value as an actual, rotation-worthy, NBA player. Why squander that?
