Anthony Edwards should be starting already and he hasn’t. He’s the number 1 pick and has shown he can handle it. Move Malik Beasley to the 6th man spark plug like Lou Williams/Jamal Crawford role.
Jarred Vanderbilt deserves more minutes but the Wolves have him playing center when he’s giving up 40-50lbs a night to the opposing center. He should be playing power forward and been matched up vs Carmelo or Derrick Jones but he was getting killed by Kanter and Nurkic. Just basic matchups are wrong every night giving us a huge disadvantage.
Wolves have a 6 game losing streak adding to Ryan Saunders pathetic 3 year coaching record of 38-76.
I agree with most. Firing the coach this early in the season howver seems faulty though. You are quitting on the season this early doing so and I just don't know that this is a good idea. The idea that someone internal is going to change things sliding up a role only works if they have completely different ideas of what should be happening in games. Since we can't know this only Rosas can make that determination and really, if he knows this already somehow it means Ryan didn't have the back of his assistants helping him.
The problem seems philosophic. Finding that Vando is a player, yet using him in the wrong spot. Asking him to play up so much against 5s. Very similar to asking a 6'4 Okogie to play PF against 6'7 to 6-'10 guys in this league. We can't repeat this enough, HOUSTON FAILED AT THIS ALREADY.
When Jim Petersen and Kevin Lynch is saying during the game and post game that the Wolves have no chance because we play so small and our basic matchups are so bad, why can’t anyone else on the team see it and correct it?
Instead we double down on the mistake. Like in the 4th quarter tonight, play Naz and Vandy together to see what it looks like but we never did. Saunders is clueless and needs to go.
Elevate Vanterpool and see what he has. If he can’t do it then get rid of the entire coaching staff. Need to see if we can salvage it or need to clean house.
I don't know why this organization is so in love with small ball to begin with.
You are doing the same thing everyone else does just with a worse group of guys and coaching staff. It can't work.
I mean you are playing Ed Davis and Juancho as your starters?
Both of them are like:
6'9'' 215 lb
against
Nurkic
7'0'' 290 lb
Kanter
6'10 250 lb
Nurkic and Kanter combined for 27 points on 13 of 15 shooting with low usage.
Probably the easiest game of their careers.
How the hell does Reid get only 16 minutes against these bulldozers?
What the hell is this?
Size and weight is such a **** huge advantage in basketball.
I have never played organized basketball in my life before. Yet when it comes down to a 1 vs. 1 even against guys who have played on a competitive higher level I will beat literally anyone that is smaller and/or skinnier than me. The size and weight is that much of an advantage.
What do the Wolves do?
Juancho and Davis to stop Kanter and Nurkic. LOL!
Obviously, there is a point where size goes to your disadvantage as well because you are not mobile enough anymore (e.g. Boban) but that's not such much the case for Reid.
The sad part is...you don't even have to watch the actual games to make this conclusion. Just opening the box score is enough to see the flaws in the Wolves game plan.
