Huge question for Sean going forward: Do we get the DPE for Dinwiddie or hope he can return by an NBA Finals run?
So, far we haven’t gotten word we got the Exception granted which leaves the door open for a Spencer return in my mind. The league has to make sure the player is for sure out for the entire season before granting the exception.
Kyrie and TJ returning on Wednesday should really shake up the lineup. I don’t want to see Shamet see a lick of minutes in Cleveland.
Somebody broke this down on Twitter the other night with bullet points from the CBA. We can both get the DPE and Spencer could comeback, we'd have to cut someone to bring him back though.
I don't think it's in anyone's interest for Spencer to come back to play playoff basketball.
I think that the Nets should offer Spencer a market value contract in the offseason and retain him.
It really depends. There might even be a month or so break in the season for COVID. And ACL's are basically like a bad sprain with sports science and medicine these days if there wasn't further damage to stuff like MCL's, PCL's, etc. Add to this it was only a partial tear and he's been hinting all along he plans to make it back. It will be around 7 months +, I could see it.
Now I do not think anyone should push him to come back and the doctors should heavily dissuade him if there is even an iota of doubt, but if he heals and conditions and can get in some hard practice and maybe even a handful of regular season games, I'll trust the doctors and him.
All that said, I'm doubtful.
