I think he would work really good with our current combos.
He scores, plays hard, and plays solid defense.
Probably would have to give up langford to get him tho.
Naa too many guys who need the ball in their hands if we got Oladipo. We should be targeting guys who can defend while sitting in the corner hitting the open 3 consistently.
I actually think Oladipo is the perfect fit if he's willing to accept the role. Our three best players can all play off-ball, but none of them get to the rack enough. Victor can knock down wide open threes, but he can also drive and kick in a way we could really use. I'd expect him to sit in the corner more while running with the starting unit, but we're desperate for an offensive leader for the 2nd unit. We could give him the keys whenever Kemba/Tatum are on the bench.
His defense is the most attractive attribute to me. Adding him would give us a really dominant group on the perimeter. Oladipo/Brown/Tatum/Smart as a foursome can all switch and create havoc. It'd add points in transition with how active they'd be in passing lanes. Matches up as well as you can hope with the Nets.
The issue with Oladipo would be that he wants to get paid max or close to max money, which a) likely isn't happening in Boston and b) is less likely to happen if he takes a 3rd/4th banana role. If he showed interest in taking Jaylen type money and that role, I'd go get him (I think it's an overpay, but I'd do it).
If we could expand it and swap Tucker for TT, you get the best of both worlds. Oladipo another two-way stud and Tucker the guy who sits in the corner for threes and plays great D. Cost you TT, Nesmith and 2021 FRP.
Find a 3rd string 7 footer like Whiteside/McGee to backfill the frontcourt. I honestly think that team can come out of the East.
