As someone who followed Harden here from Houston, that 2017-18 team went 50-5 when Harden, Chris Paul, and Clint Capela played. They were absolutely torching teams.

If you put Harden and Durant with a capable big man and spend your money in the front court instead of a redundant manner at a guard position with Kyrie, this team will then start realizing their potential.

Unless he goes completely off the rails, the chances of Sean Marks trading Kyrie, nevermind pissing Kevin Durant off, are zero.

I guess he doesn’t care about winning, because that’s what needs to be done.

It really doesn’t.

We have three roster spots available and some exception assets to play with.

Do you honestly think that will take the team to where it needs to be to win a title? This is championship or bust.

We are playing a rookie 2nd round pick backup center as our primary backup C and PF on a nightly basis.

Two veterans like a Jeff Green or a Dedmon, Whiteside, etc will do wonders off the bench for this team. There is literally ONE big man on this roster right now.

We scored 96 points between 3 players while Joe Harris didn’t even have a good shooting game. The entire team literally hasn’t even fully practiced yet.

We will have the best offense in the NBA and we are currently on a historic offensive pace but until we get to a respectable level on defense and rebounding, we will be in close games all season long. Close games means less chances of rest, recovery and more minute mileage.

Winning a championship also requires good health. This Big 3 could smoke the East easily if we had a Dwight Howard/McGee type situation which is why losing Allen sucks.

We really just need an athletic wing defender and a really solid defensive big with experience.

You really think anyone would trade someone averaging 25+ PPG on 50/40/90 efficiency in their prime with a championship ring already while this franchise has won nothing since the 70s who also happens to have become a basketball player because of watching the same team he’s playing on? Lol

Notice how everybody that wants the Nets to trade Kyrie isnt actually a Nets fan.

It's like the idea of Kyrie on the Nets sits uncomfortably with them for some reason....

Nobody cares what you think. You've probably watched one or two Nets games this whole season and think you know everything.

Go back to the Rockets forum and worry about John Wall or Demarcus Cousins.

We are plenty happy with Kyrie.

Imagine trying to convince fans of a team 1.5 games back of the #1 seed with KD and Harden, Joe Harris, that we should trade a superstar PG averaging 50/40/90 and a 62% TS% who also grew up a Nets fan. If we have to deal with fans who want him gone so bad every time he sits out games, so be it. It’s idiotic.

It’s almost like this guy who got traded to the Knicks, from NY and grew up a Knicks fan. Sat out games and became a huge scapegoat. The man couldn’t even get his bags unpacked before fans tried to run him out of the city. I think his name rhymes with Jello.

I may be opening a can of worms, but I do agree with some national pundits and fans who say we *may* need to deal Kyrie.

BY NO MEANS do I think we should fire sale him. The only guys I would consider for him are Towns, Adebayo and maaaaaaaaybe Porzingis if he continues to show full health. Having 3 bona fide stars is better than anyone's dynamic duo, BUT getting a younger guy at a position of need whose skill set better fits the 3rd wheel role might be a necessary tweak. Probably an offseason move if anything, but if the fit is wonky and a trade deadline deal materializes for one of those elite young bigs, I think we'd take it.

Short of them, I don't see him going anywhere, and we're better for it.

Teams tank for half a decade to get someone as talented as Kyrie. Even entertaining the idea of trading him is idiotic unless if you're getting an Anthony Davis caliber player back. Then you'd think about it

Role players are a dime a dozen in the NBA. There is neglegible difference paying 20m for a Drummond and the minimum for Dwight Howard off the scrapheap.

Porzingis is never healthy and Bam is no true star, he's an undersized C with no reliable jump shot. No way Kyrie should be traded for either.

As for smaller, more realistic moves, I would like to see us use the Dinwiddie disabled player exception (whenever the league awards it) to acquire Moritz Wagner and Isaac Bonga.

Both are having stellar statistical seasons in small, inconsistent roles. Skiles needs a perimeter stopper and a backup big, but he refuses to rely on either of them. Normally, I would guess that that means those players aren't as valuable as they may seem, but Scott is probably the 2nd worst coach in the league, and is clueless with rotations.

Mo has the bulk to bang and defend in the post. He slides his feet defensively on the perimeter when needed, and is sitting a blistering 57% from long range this year. He's not a shot blocker and could at a ridiculous rate, but in the bargain bin he's a steal.

Isaac is also scorching the nets from distance (60%), but his calling card is defense. 6'8 with a 7' wingspan and excellent footwork, he can be the stopper we need. He also shows impressive rebounding and playmaking ability.

Add these two efficient role players, a stretch 5 and a 3&D savant, and our rotation would look significantly better.

Exactly.

We should be good enough for someone to pull a DeMarcus Cousins and sign a MLE deal for a shot at a ring. I’ve seen a lot of guys from Iman Shumpert to Isaiah Thomas lobby for a role on the Nets. I haven’t heard one pundit try to talk on the idea of us signing ring chasers to improve our needs but LOVE to mention we’re the team to beat in the East every other day.

We also have multiple second round picks through 2025 including picks from Denver, Phoenix, Portland to include in any trade, mini-MLE, DPE that will likely be approved by the 1st of the month.

We could trade up to FOUR 2nds in any future trade without packaging a player for instance. The Clippers got Kennard for 4 2nds and a lower level bench role player.

Astounding logic by these so called experts that Kyrie being traded is the answer. I wish I could be paid that much to know absolutely nothing about NBA basketball.

He will be ridiculed until he wins multiple championships. The entire media and brainless fans wants him to retire and go out like some Delonte West junkie and I will never accept that bull. He has his flaws but he damn sure isn’t nothing that we’ve seen him be ridiculed for.

I’ve seen heartlessness in Deron Williams. I’ve seen quitting in Deron Williams and I’ve seen real lack of respect for the organization, fans and players from Deron Williams. Apparently, REAL Nets fans forgot we paid a guy max money to sit and spend all pregame hours hanging out with opposing teams SECURITY instead of hanging out with teammates in the arena pre-game and show up to be outplayed on a nightly basis from the opposing team’s PG.

I remember watching Deron Williams be EMBARRASSED and CLOWNED by BACKUPS! making vet minimum money. Watching this clown be cooked by Efrid Payton, DJ Augustin, Nate Robinson, etc. This man couldn’t even get the proper surgery to help his decline. Nets fans have nothing to complain about with a Big 3 of Kyrie, Harden and KD after ONE game. Period. These dudes LOVE the organization and playing with each other and that is what matters. Hearing all three could be extended next summer is what matters.

We are literally the first topic of the league in franchise history. More press than Miami Heat got. Anyone trying to get Kyrie out of here in 3 seconds of swapping LeVert/Allen for Harden after 2 games isn’t much of a Nets fan, IMO.

We can all have our different perspective of basketball but absolutely no real fan is going to try to break up a Big 3 of PRIME unstoppable offensive talent without a personal dislike for kyrie. He can’t perform any better right now than he is for his position. We can all be adults and say you dislike the guy personally or something instead of weird trade ideas to break up what could be the best offensive trio EVER assembled.

100%

We've got potentially the greatest offensive trio the league's ever know and people are trying to break them up after 1 game! Actually people wanted it after 0 games !

Smells a lot like foreign interference. This isn't for the Nets benefit. Only for our competitors benefit. Any surprise no Nets fans are calling for this absurdity?

People just don't realize how good Kyrie is.

He is one of the best scorers in the NBA. 27 on 50/40/90 is an insane statistical season.

And hes still young.

The only reason hes not discussed among the best players in the NBA is because of his baggage and injury history. Take that out and hes in the conversation for top 7 or 8 player in the league.

There are so many ways to add depth and defensive players. We see Super Teams do it all the team. Its not rocket science.

You don't do it by trading one of your stars. You wait for the buyouts and get your guys to recruit.

It is 100% agenda driven.

No one is trading a player putting up his level of efficiency in his prime unless he demands an out. And Irving wants to be here.

I think there is a TON of doubt that Bam has a star level impact on winning, given his team has a losing record. Butler is the guy with a star level impact on winning. Kyrie most certainly impacts winning more

It's way too early to give up on this trio after 1 game... come on now.

I actually thought they had better on the court chemistry than expected.

I do agree that Nash and coaching staff have a big puzzle in front of them. How to maximize our trio but also get our role players involved that way our offense has a better flow?

Turnovers continue to plague us but those should come down after this group has had some time to gel... should be good to go by playoffs.

Our biggest weakness is that we don't have any good and reliable defensive big that can do all of the dirty work while our offensive trio gets it rolling.

DJ is too washed at this point of his career, can only give us a few "good" performances per 20 games or so. Very inconsistent not to mention Nash never finished games with him. Losing the Fro really hurt us since nobody on the team can play his role currently.

I feel like Marks has a couple good moves under his sleeve still...we must bolster our center position.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
