I think i'd rather have Lonzo's playmaking than Oubre's... whatever.

I’d rather the length and defensive presence of Oubre. He isn’t perfect but he’s improving.

He’s not solid defensively though. He’s constantly gambling and out of position. Lonzo is a good defender and much more reliable in executing the team defense that Draymond is quarterbacking.

I didn’t mean to imply that we couldn’t retain Oubre if we wanted (though he may prefer a starting role elsewhere next year; he wouldn’t have one here with Klay back), just that he isn’t the ideal player, so we should trade for someone who is closer to that, as long as that player can definitely be retained next season. Lonzo is much better for the way GSW wants to play than Oubre. He’d be a fantastic 6th man next year.
Hard to see Oubre wanting to stay. He'd either be coming off of the bench or the 7th man if we blow our wad on Beal. Hard to see him wanting to do that, or us wanting him to so that with the 15-20mil price tag he'll inevitably command.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

He def gambles but his length is huge and he changes shots and snags rebounds Lonzo wouldn’t.
Oubre is ideal as a small ball 4.

The problem is he kills the offense because of how dumb he is.

If Lonzo plays with the Warriors, who is going to shoot on this team? Curry, an inconsistent shooter in Wig leaving wide open Lonzo/Draymond? :banghead:

The team needs a reliable 3 point shooter that can defend.

I mean Lonzo isn't any worse shooting than Oubre, so it would be the same - except that Lonzo would actually make smart passes and proper defensive rotations.

Oubre is a difference maker on defense. He makes mistakes on both ends of the court but his rare athleticism can affect a game positively to such an extent that it far outstrips the negative impact of his mistakes. And when he has a game where he doesn't make any mistakes like against Dallas we can blow out the competition.

So no to trading Oubre because his talent gives our team the potential to make the kind of noise in the playoffs we would never have a chance to make with anybody we could trade him for.

If Kerr can reorient the team to his version of Nellieball and it flips the switch for Oubre(and Draymond) we can win a championship.

Except that what you said is objective wrong so far into the season. Some examples such as the bench going to absolute **** once he became part of the rotations, all while simultaneously the offense with Steph on / him off is significantly higher. It's not like he's helped the Warriors become the best defensive unit in the league, but we have sample sizes where his play offensive has completely killed this team.

Lets see how he plays tonight. Sure he was a willing passer when he was already getting his the other night, but he almost definitely won't have a near perfect shooting performance two straight games. Does he go back to forcing shots? Does the defensive effort fade as the game goes on and the bricks keep coming? We already know the awareness and rotations will be poor.

But if he has truly turned a corner then he will move the ball and take smart shots regardless of whether his own shot is falling. Color me skeptical.

Lay game started out by me saying, Oubre with the Ill Advised three!.........good.

And that went on for a while and he made shots and played better. Good for him and us. But when shots fall, somehow guys are viewed as playing better? I guess

The pace of the game made all the difference. When Oubre is standing around he's wondering what he should be doing and largely not doing anything. When the game is moving like it did the other night he has no chance to stagnate and it suits his game far more. If they play tonight like they did the other night and Oubre doesn't make a shot they will still win the game.

That's exactly how they're viewed. If Oubre had been shooting at his normal clip for the first 20 games, people might mildly point out some flaws in his game, but there wouldn't be this panic to get rid of him.

To think we bench Wiseman to make Oubre a better fit.

Why should we cater to Oubre, and especially further reduce Wiseman's role in the process?

I just don't see the owners wanting to pay all that tax money for a 5 hundred team. Especially with Oubre being a UFA after the season. They're either going to trade Wiggins or Oubre if we stay at 500 come trade deadline. I would prefer they trade Oubre but 30 mil for Wigs is a lot.

Keeping him and trading Wiggins would be sad to see.

And just like that, the opportunity is gone.
