"Come on man, look at our team, we're just terrible regardless."
Well yeah, that's very true. But maybe we'd have a better team if we hadn't refused to trade him or let him go. We can say we haven't "built around" Vuc, and that he just happens to always wind up our "best" player. We can call it whatever we want, but the roster construction has been impacted by the refusal to part with him. Are you a big man that just got drafted or traded to the Magic? I hope you didn't plan on playing.
The opposite is true...In Vuc's tenure, they brought in (Modern Center) Biyombo and BENCHED Vuc...he quickly showed how absurd that was. They didn't even try to move (modern big) Ibaka to Center before they backtracked. Then they drafted Bamba, who hasn't flirted with replacing Vuc...I don't think WeHam came in with the idea of Vuc still being here. Vuc's play (and the mayhem, mistakes, and injuries that have surrounded him) have made it unthinkable for WeHam to get rid of the one piece they have been able to count on (despite their efforts)...WeHam are probably more frustrated by this than any of us and they are probably rooting for your and Xatticus' efforts to dissect a mountain with a scalpel, despite the obvious fallacy.
