Yeah... I get Everyone has Giannis fatigue from him being unbelievable but wow. Giannis gets bashed for things that Embiid, Harden or Jokic also haven't done.
Harden and Jokic have reached a conference final.Hopefully soon Giannis will learn how to shoot and won’t be stopped by a wall
This is weird in so many levels. The player that never reached conference finals is Embiid; Players that never won MVP before are Embiid and Jokic; The player hardly played any games is Durant; The player that just sunk his previous team and jumped ship is Harden. Yet Giannis is not eligible because of he is not better than last year's himself

.
I checked bbref this evening, and Antetokounmpo shot 28% from three in his first 18 games and 32% in his last 18 games. In his last 13 games, he's shooting 34%. I think his FT% has followed a similar trajectory this year. I started following these numbers in early February, when I was watching a Bucks game and noticed how improved his stroke looked. Things are looking pretty good for Milwaukee right now. If his stroke is indeed as improved as it looks, then he is indeed better than "last year's himself."
The only players to win three straight MVP's are Russell, Chamberlain, and Bird. I'd have no problem with Antetokounmpo joining that group, if he deserved it. James should've won five straight, and Jordan should've won
at least five straight, but them not winning when they deserved it is no reason to penalize Antetokounmpo. (Oh, and Kareem may have deserved a bunch in a row... I'm not certain.)
I think Jokic should be way ahead right now, though. His per-minute/per-possession advanced stats are flirting with the top ten
in history,
and he's
second in the league in minutes (as of Sunday morning)! EDIT: When I say flirting: he's 9th in PER, 11th in WS/48, and 8th in BPM - in history!
Antetokounmpo or Embiid is second right now, but obviously Antetokounmpo is going to pass Embiid soon if he hasn't already.
