It's incredibly difficult to protect the first of multiple FRPs in any meaningful way that works for both teams.

I’m holding out hope it’s top 10, then 2 2nds in 2022

That's a crazy gamble for Chicago, what if Lavine gets hurt?

If LaVine gets hurt then it hurts the pick the Magic get....

Spoiler:
I'm sorta kidding, but also sorta not.

They pretty much clear 100% of vucs salary with the porter expiring and get if not lotto picks then mid first picks.

What is the bulls motivation? to become the magic?

I feel bad for Lavine.

The Bulls motivation is probably to improve as a basketball team by adding talent, I would assume.

Vuc is 1 of 4 players averaging 24 ppg and 10 rpg, and you feel bad for LaVine? He's finally getting some help.

One of my favorite quotes about bringing in AK: “He wasn’t brought in to fall in love with GarPax’s players”.

We are seeing that.

Do the bulls have two '22 SRPs? I thought they just had the one that can be swapped four different ways or something.

Are you able to trade things that you don't currently have?

Could easily be 2nds in consecutive years, that was just an example.

It’s my last shred here, let me have it.

No.

You can do the 2nd pick as "2 years after pick 1"

So, for instance:
'21 1st (protected lotto in '21, lotto in '22, top 10 in '23, top 8 in '24, top 5 in '25, if not 2 2nds)
'23 1st (Protected lotto until '27, if not in '27 then a 2nd; but 2 years after 1st pick.

So, if first pick is not until '23, 2nd pick starts on the clock at '25 for instance.

Oof, protection is rough.

Hopefully AK looked at the schedule before that trade

Unprotected in 2023? Is that right? If so that’s a major miss needs top 4 both years minimum

Help to do what? how much does vuc raise their ceiling? And not saying that to be a hater... but we discussed Vuc to the Bulls here last week and i didnt understand it then when there werent even picks involved.

Despite Vuc 25/10 on great efficiency, the magic are 27th offensively and among the worst teams in the league. Yeah he didnt have a ton of help in orlando and they also had injuries but does this move make them any better then the range they are in now (6-10)?

I could see if they retained those picks, or if there are heavy protections. otherwise they basically become the 2017-2019 magic without 2 of their next 3 picks and LAvine could leave in FA after next season.

Lonzo Ball seems a foregone conclusion to be traded to CHI, but I wonder if they considered Rubio?

1. Rubio takes less trade assets
2. Less money in the future
3. Already knows how to feed LaVine, to win right now.
4. Helped similar players (Donovan Mitchell and Devin Booker) make leaps forward towards stardom
5. Same age as Vooch (30)

Still probably going to be Ball, but ...?
