It also takes pressure of Kemba opens up the floor for him. Now he needs to knock down his jumper.
Also opens more of the drive game for him, as well as the Jays.

He was going into free agency and Ainge went with a younger, taller, less expensive alternative. See Belichick.
Who is also going to free agency after 30 games. That’s the issue lol. Trade an expiring for an expiring.
I understand it was to get under the tax.
LmA would give us 5 very good 3pt shooters on floor at the same time ! drummond will gobble up rebounds and finish in the paint at much higher rate that TT ....both these guys along with Fournier give us plenty to throw at Philly bucks and Heat...

I love DT ! but I believe he is a perfect representation of this team ....good and hardworking but not good enough to contend
moving Theis also allows for us to bring in LmA or Drummond ! I want both !! Yes Kemba will benefit most from this trade the jays aren't struggling like Kemba is this season.

We aren't looking to trade Kemba for nothing. That's dumb. We are looking to get him healthy (which he is) and playing well (which he isn't).
Hopefully Fournier is a player who can make shots and open up the lane for Kemba.
So.
Happens all the time. Players go from great to crap.
This team doesnt fit him ss much as he doesnt fit the team
Kemba sucks and will not look good on this team until he at least comes off the bench
Dude was third team all nba two years ago. All star before hurt, and hasn't played well.

Hate to break it to ya but LMA and Drummond are not signing here...

Vukevic might have brought some fire power to center spot but I don’t want a center who can’t defend locked in for 2 years at that salary. I wanted Gordon because it would be fun to see more defense and athleticism but the price was too high and he doesn’t get us anywhere special. Oladipo is a bad fit and George Hill is less exciting than Fournier. Norman Powell might be better 2 way player than Fournier but I like Evan’s height better.
So given nothing great happened today, Ainge didn’t really miss out. If you think we should have emptied cupboard to bring Vukevic and Gordon and traded Smart to do it so that we could be a “contender” this year.....I just don’t think it’s a good plan.
So we lost our TPE but Danny has a backup plan. Smart and TT combined are a 24 million expiring contract and combined with a young player ( PP, Langford or Nesmith ) can easily get us a better player than the TPE could have.
Losing Theis hurts. We are worse for that, no doubt. But now the team can let Timelord shine and either become the stud we need or at least become a bigger asset in a future trade.
Finally, if Evan F ends up being a rental .... we lost nothing of value and we still have Nesmith and Langford as understudies.
This could be a lost year. However, we did get to ECF last year with a lesser roster. TT and RW could pop. Fournier might not bring Hayward’s all around game but he might do what we actually needed from Hayward last year which was to just shoot the ball when he’s wide open.
One more thing.....we have more money to offer players bought out than our competitors. Maybe LaMarcus and Drummond would rather play in LA and Miami.....but Danny can pay them more. Either will be massive upgrade from Theis on this current roster if we can sign one.
Agree completely. It is obvious that no one of consequence was actually available, or if they were the cost was too high.
Fournier should help because he is a lot better than any wing on the team not named Brown or Tatum.
I don’t quite understand the Theis move, if Wagner is a UFA, couldn’t they have thrown another asset at the Bulls and tried to get Markkinen instead? I don’t like the idea of giving up such a solid player just because he will probably leave in the off season if the return is so uninspiring. I guess they are wanting to give Rob Williams more of a roll.
My only main concern is one of Fournier, Smart or Walker will need to come off the bench (and it probably shouldn’t be Fournier) so that creates some potential head aches for the coaching staff as Walker and Smart probably both think they should start.
Smart off the bench. He's a 25 minute guy off the bench. When he goes 30 or more its a problem.
The lineup is:
Walker/Fournier/Brown/Tatum/Thompson
Bench: Smart, Williams, PP and then we start searching.
Theis has to be odd man out. He doesn't have the size at center we need.
