Surprised they couldn't have found a trade for him considering his low salary. Especially since McGee returned multiple 2nd rounders.

But good on them for letting him go play towards a new contract while they are clearly in hard-core tank mode. Situations like this one are why I have such trouble with the Chicken Little Buyout guys. Neither side wants to still play basketball for the Magic so working to prevent him getting a better situation makes zero sense.

Very surprising to me that the Celtics didn't somehow snag him. Even a Wagner for Birch swap would've still saved money. Maybe not enough time?

He should've brought something back similar to what McGee did. Cavs did a good job there. But at the same time I won't fault the Magic for now doing the right thing and buying him out even though they couldn't get value for him in a trade.

I can see OKC picking him up. We'll see.

I don't know. If OKC had any interest why wasn't he just sent there as part of the deadline deal?

I may die on this hill, but I loved Clark and Jacob Evans at UC. They have skills to contribute on this level. The fact that my partner has a U of Cincinnati degree doesn’t bias me at all here....

I would say a team like Cleveland or Minnesota with open spots. Someone else said but if OKC wanted him he would have been part off the trade.

My Xavier degree tells me that they're both bad players and bad people. But my Cincinnati law degree thinks that's harsh.

Quite conflicted, you are. We’re primarily Hoosiers, though. Also, she’s a Spartan! Case Western Reserve Spartan, that is!

Also, if she sticks in her current job, our kid will be a Bearcat, for free, so hard to hate them...

Cant beat tuition remission. I was blessed that my dad worked at a University and all we had to pay were some fees and books. Definitely a great deal for those in that scenario. As long as the kid obliges that is :)

Does anyone else think with this weak free agent class that Chris Paul could opt out?

Could he opt out and sign/re-sign a new 2 year deal for $70m total, $35m per year? It’d net him an extra/new $26m for his age 35 season, which sounds pretty good.

He’d basically have to sign a 2 year deal to avoid Over-38 restrictions, which might make a longer deal (3/$90m total?) tough to do.
