A lot of talk about Wiseman being mentally weak.....O don’t get this at all.....when you go through the laundry list of items that has happened since the Memphis debacle, it would shake anyone. I’m not going to list it all unless someone gets crazy. And by this point we all know it anyhow.
But the positive angle on some of this to me, is that the kid never went to the medi and complained about anything. Every interview was about working to improve, learning from mistakes, and understanding what we are trying to do.
By all accounts he’s a really hard worker. I mean from every aspect we’ve heard he works hard and wants to learn. KD reached out to him in high school and Wisemans talked to him since. That’s a good thing because LD has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to playing on the court.
I know some of you say he sulks, he’s not aggressive, he’s this he’s that.....yes.....do any of you remember what it’s like to be 19 or 20? I do....and I am currently dealing with my own 19 year old. I wish he was as mature as Wiseman is right now.
But another things you realize when looking at really young players. When they are young and playing against other young players, there is a different confidence level to it. Now jump into a grown mans league and try and maintain that confidence level. Not many players in the league have come in with it. Lamelo was showing confidence early and the fact that he already played in two grown man leagues benefitted him.
It’s fun to look back on guys who were stout in college, come into the league and struggle, and then find that confidence they used to have when their peers from back in the day also become veterans. It’s two different levels.
So pigeon holing a rookie.....especially the ones who have dealt with major issues throughout their first season, is just kind of lame.
