If you accept those odds, the Magic is projected to go 4-10 in the above (actually it is 3.998 wins, but still). 538 also predicts 4 wins and a final 22-50 mark.

But to get to TWO, all the Magic really need is to go 3-11 with the extra lose being to the T-wolves. That would take both teams to a predicted 21-49 final record.

..

Naw this doesnt mean much honestly. Such a projection doesnt work. 1st you dont know especially in this season, who you play against (load management / tanking moves). 2nd much more important, its based on us using our vets. If you make that projection with the roster we played in the last 2-3 games, the % are probably much different.
We are 1-9 in the last 10 with the vets playing much less. The only win was a vet heavy game. Without them, we are basically OKC.

There is a real chance the Sixers rest their roster for the final two games, for example. Will Philly rather care about the fight for the 1 vs 2 seed, or being healthy and rested against on of the two play-in winners for their first round match-up?

But the counterargument is that Orlando would play its players as well. Will we ever see Ross again this season?
Load management goes both ways. And if Coach Cllifford keeps playing Franks, Cannady, and Randle for 40+ minutes combine per game, well, Orlando is managing its load.

Yea but i hope Thybulle plays 30 mpg in those 2 games & this means Cole, RJ, Harris & co will shoot under 30%

But in the end it all comes down if we play the vets or not. But you are right, would be fitting if again a uninterested playoff team gives us a end of the season win like Washington did in the Luka/Trae draft.

When we play the vets again, this projection looks right. When we keep them out, i'm pretty sure we wont win 4 games.

Yeah. There is no way that their projections account for what's going on right now. Orlando and OKC aren't going to win as many games as they are projected to, but those are the only two teams that seem to be blatantly tanking right now.

Speaking of which... it seems that rejiggering the lottery odds cured that whole tanking problem then, right?

Kind off.

There was a time this season when both OKC and Orlando had play-in visions. Neither team was part of The Process. But when the wheels come off, I guess a mini-Tank is what we can expect for a team.

Yeah.. I dunno how we are getting away eoth it. I guess the trade deadline gave us some goodwill? When DET OKC TOR rests its players people in the gb are uo in arms about how they are describing as a mockery of the game. But when we do it, nobody notices....

Well i guess the scrubs we are resting are more scrubish than the other teams?

Because we rest players nobody knows or people think are ultra scrubs like MCW. Porter is really injured.

OKC rests SGA & Horford. Detroit in Grant a 20+ ppg player & Toronto players who were big parts of a NBA champion just 2 years ago & in Siakam the 2nd option on that team.

Hopefully we sit so many players that OKC starts complaining about us.

We don't really have any good players to rest...everybody wants a strategy to out-tank the opposition but we just are a G-League team anyway. Seriously, who is a good player on this roster right now?

The ones we need to rest as much as possible are Harris and MCW, they are vets so they don't need development time and without them we can't defend anybody on the perimeter so the loss is virtually guaranteed with our lack of offensive firepower.

Houston and Minnesota don't have a whole lot to gain from completely throwing in the towel. Their odds of keeping their pick are locked if they finish worst or 4th worst, (and even close to the same if they were to fall out of the bottom 4, however unlikely). The Magic might be able to "catch" both of those teams, though we are running short on games. Houston schedule looks pretty tough, Minny's got some wins on theirs.

OKC has a real chance of two top 5 picks in this draft. I wouldn't be surprised if they sat SGA for the rest of the season, even though he's probably ready to go.

I just noticed that Ennis is shooting 43.6% from 3 this season, he's low-key having a very good year, so hopefully he'll get plenty of rest in the coming weeks.

As long as Ennis, Ross, and MCW sit the rest of the way, we’ll be in a great position going into the lotto.

meh. Those are solid bench players even on a good team. With our newly found cap flexibility I don't know how anyone can be more down on the franchise then they were just a month ago.

WCJ/Bamba
JI/Ennis
Cade/Okeke
Harris/Ross/RJ
Fultz/Cole/MCW

That's not a bad core at all to build around and we'll have a ton of cap space in 2022.

Maybe by the time 2022 rolls around, we'll be an attractive team to go to. It would be fun to hear rumors of Butler or Beal wanting to go to Orlando.

Sabonis, McDermott, Turner all out for the Pacers against OKC. I hope they don't do that to us Sunday.
