Field's athleticism will give you ability for some remarkable plays even if he is not a great traditional QB. He seems like someone who will sacrifice his body to win a game, keep plays alive, and throw an accurate deep ball. That alone can likely make him an average QB as the floor. My biggest gripe with this pick is that he was not able to beat out Fromm at Georgia. Lets hope there was significant growth and maturation that was not present before.
O-line pick was needed. Really hoping Jenkins doesnt pull a Kevin white with his previous injury issues. Kevin White was a monumental bust. You would have to assume they did their due diligence with his medical records. If he has serious medical issues, both Pace and Phillips should be fired immediately.
Who cares if he was not able to beat out some guy when he was a freshman or not? He outplayed the consensus #1 overall pick in the draft in the national championship game this year- that's enough for me.
then he proceeded to get taken out to the woodshed by mac jones in the championship game. that's to be ignored? why in the world would you put all your marbles on a single game and completely ignore the game...that was for all the marbles?
-justin herbert, last year's rookie of the year, passed for a mere 138 yards in the rose bowl prior to being drafted
-peyton manning passed for only 131 yards in his final college game as his #3 volunteers got pasted by #2 nebraska
-tim tebow went 31/35 for 482, 3TD and no picks in the sugar bowl in his final college game. nearly perfect
-aaron rodgers and his #4 golden bears got slapped around by texas tech in his final bowl game. some kid named sonny cumbie threw for 520 yards to 246 for rodgers
-russell wilson was played to a standstill in his final college game by darron thomas of oregon in the rose bowl. oregon won
and none of it had any bearing whatsoever on any of their pro exploits. and for every deshawn watson there's a johnny manziell. hell, nick foles "beat" tom brady in the super bowl. even that was not predictive going forward. "i'll take the guy who won a super bowl" - susan
