We have several of them remaining on the schedule:

Grizzlies
76ers
Nuggets
Heat

4 out of the 7 remaining games are against teams on a b2b

I imagine every one of those teams will be fighting for seeding though. Nuggets may be losing on purpose to avoid the Lakers matchup but heat and grizz will want to get best seed as possible/avoid play in and the 76ers should want that one seed. They should be motivated. We shouldn’t be

I still think those teams beat us. Some will still be fighting for position.

We could take 1 though.

The Hornets fighting for position helps us today.

If you’re not worried there are 3 possibilities:

1) You aren’t paying close attention

2) You don’t care about where we pick

3) You have a healthy life balance with the right perspective and priorities where you don’t put undue emphasis on the fate of the local sports team.

I’ll admit when the team was good number 3 didn’t apply to me even in the slightest. I’d get way too caught up. Part of that was immaturity. Now that we’ve been bad for all but the very beginning of my adult life, this stuff riles me up a lot less.

Mate I couldn’t agree with you anymore. While we’ve tanked Casey will still play guys going for the win when we are close late in games and other teams have shown they will go much further with their tank willing to pretty much deliberately play their team to lose late ensuring they get better odds for their lottery. Seeing us lose to the magic was nice, but we still do need to worry that we will come on stronger he last few games and lose 1-2 spots in our draft order

Dude, this take is beyond tired. If Casey was going for wins why do the Pistons have the 2nd worst record in the entire NBA? Do you honestly think all the guys who were out last night were for LEGITIMATE injury/rest reasons? Get some new material, bro. Seriously. Or you'll be eating a second serving of crow right after you finish the one you got for panning the Stewart pick.

Like why? Why tf are they out? Bro you're fighting for the playoffs. If your leg is not falling off get your ass on the court.

seems like so many times this season we've faced good/playoff teams missing their best players, its getting annoying.

No Devontae Graham either

I'm convinced that at least one of Diallo and Frank will play tonight.

I want to see lots of Sekou isolations.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

We have nine guys out - so it's a 17 man roster?

That's just beautiful tanking. You think the Pistons were like, "Okay, anyone have anything at all that could be considered uncomfortable? Your tooth hurts? Great! Take the night off."

Tooth pain hahahaahaha. They know they are trying to lose. It must be kinda hard on some these guys that only know how to fight to win. It goes against a lot of what they believe. Weird to see Casey really committed to losing. Great for our lotto odds. We aren’t winning another game.

I’m a little shocked we’re doing this.

The good thing it says to me is the Weaver has control of decision-making. Complete control. Casey is a good leader of men and a decent coach, but he’s doing what he’s told, which is fantastic. We need that kind of concrete decision-making structure to make progress.

Because our team sucks, and that has zero to do with Casey. I haven’t seen a single shred of evidence to show that if we are close late in games that Casey will still prioritise development and tanking over getting the win. In close games Casey has played the vets (when they aren’t resting and pushed for it) so I don’t know how on earth you are so positive Casey is helping us tank. With regard to players being held out I think it’s for the teams doctors and gm to decide who gets held out, and not the coach.

In any case there’s a decade of history where the Pistons as an organisation have decided to try to win games against tanking teams with a better record than ours and we end up losing our position to them.

And on the Stewart front are you referring to my post admitting I was wrong? If so it’s a little late to be making that call when I had already called it myself.

I'm guessing we go 1-6, holding on to at least a tie for second worst. That would be a fine way to finish off a successful first season of the retool.

Make no mistake- the decision to sit those players is a management decision, not a coaching one. Which is not to say that Casey isn't on board with that plan- just that he likely isn't the driving force behind those changes.

I think the distinction needs to be made between choices made BEFORE games and choices made DURING games. Management has their hand in the first- I seriously doubt Killian would have started at the beginning of the year if Casey had his say for instance.

We are losing games because the team is bad, and because the team is not being built and managed with the goal of winning games this season. That doesn't mean the coach is tanking games.

Sure, I'm no psychic, I don't know what's in Casey's head, but I think the contrasting approaches this season vs last season (same coach, different higher-ups) support this notion.
