Harris will get Stan Johnson money from us. If Harris would take $12M from us on a four year deal, with the fourth year a team option, I'd lock him up. He can spend a couple years learning to play D, then become a great bargain for the next two years. We definitely need his O ability on the backup squad. If he wants to bet on himself, offer him $7M on a 3 year deal, no player option for the third year.

Stan Johnson will get Harris money from someone else. LOL. Actually, I have no idea what Stan will get, or if the team will bring him back on a cheap(er) deal. His D was not bad this year. He was OK as an end of the bench kind of player. Useful in limited minutes / certain situations. I'd offer Stan something like $1.5 to $1.8M/yr. Oh crap, I just realized we were paying Stanimal 3.8M this season. I thought it was only 3M. Wow.

edit: maybe some ass will want to update their signature with more current predictions from me. :)

Trent will get 15+

He just rejected 4/54

The issue is also that another team could throw an offer to him and force the Raptors hand to match it.

Again - Trent is a decent player, but what he does is found around the league, for cheaper, and is not as special as people want to believe. Joe Harris just made 4/75 (also overpaid) as a better shooter.

Trent is a complimentary piece, not a cornerstone. He can have a 40 point game, then follow it up with a 2 point game, which is the hallmark of a streaky shooter.

By almost every advanced metric, he is average at best. The whole age thing is the only thing people have to defend him.

With OG for example, you could say he is 22 and improving along with the fact he was an advanced stats darling, which is why seeing his linear growth is expected. I don't see the same with Trent, and we essentially will be capped out with a bench SG as our starter.

I don't think many teams need a SG at over the MLE.

Meanwhile, we will either pay him 15m or have him as starter, otherwise, he and his agent may not want us to match the offer for a starter role.

I remember they said Harris wants to play PG. They give a bit more personality about players.

They also mentioned that Harris is from Dallas.

Trent should get Luke Kennard money.

$12,727,273 $13,745,455 $14,763,636 $14,763,636 (team option)

This feels about right, but he will probably get more. Unless we move up in the draft.

He played last game hurt!!! He got hurt during Thursday's game, thus he didn't play the end of the 4th quarter.

It wouldn’t surprise me if that was Nurse going with more defence even though we were losing the game. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s done it.

Dallas was playing us easy. We can't create much, and we played the tank cards with Baynes and Johnson.

I didnt watch the game. Only saw the highlights but dude looks like a ballerina with his on-ball footwork. Dare i say shades of elite scoring capability. Someone mentioned lou williams in another thread and i see that too.

His handle and his footwork with the ball are impressive. Honestly didnt know he coild move like that. Not sure what the players call it....but he also kinda throws the ball into space and chases it while still technically being part pf his dribble. Anyone know if there's a term for that? Seems like something you only see elite scorer's do.

It's not so much the 31 points. That didnt shock me being so late in a covid season.....it's HOW he scored all them buckets and how many ways he scored them.

Im stoked.

I agree Jalen looked great, but that Dallas defense, particularly Powell and Luka, was horrible

They are a playoff team playing hard so perhaps it was Jalen just making them look bad. :reporter:

You can see that at the end of the 2:30 mins when we are within single possession, they put more effort on both end. Probably don't want to get injured.

Meanwhile, Harris shows some flashes, maybe good that he can provide some scoring off the bench as the 8th guy. However, I don't envision we play both Flynn and Harris, as they are a bit too small.

It’s a pro move most nba players do it. It’s also one of Fred’s go to’s it allows you to lay the ball up from the 25 feet with no dribble.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing. Don't recall seeing Fred do it. Kobe did it alot. Steph does it. It might even technically be a travel but they don't call it. It's a dribble....they're still bouncing the ball....but they bounce it into space and take more than one step to catch up to it.

Are you guys kidding about Dallas not taking that game seriously, they were in a must win to avoid being a play-in team. Jalen did it against their best efforts as did Flynn.

Right. Thats basically what im talking about. In the Harris hilite clip video the best example of it is at the 2 minute mark. Bounces the ball into space and needs to take a couple steps to retrieve it. Looks like he has that down pretty smooth.

Not sure but i think that IS technically a travel that refs decided not to call. Kobe did it ALOT.

Anyone downplaying that Jalen Harris game is kidding themselves. We’ve been missing that type of shot creation all season. And its not like he was going up against terrible defence either.

His hesitation dribble game is pretty slick.
I can see some point guard potential with his ability to create passing lanes by dribbling into open space.
That was an impressive game for him with shots made from nearly every spot on the floor.
