Good thinking. Wood and Lauri would def make them 5 out on offense too.
If I'm Hou, I resign Olynyk (better, cheaper, post-season experience) before I bother for 5 seconds with Lauri. That said, I can't see Olynyk wanting to stay...he'll be coveted.
The trade that may interest them would be Sato for Gordon + a 1st. Gordon has at least 2 more seasons at $20M, but he's a servicable backup SG. That's a lot of flexibility to get a 1st, but the $ work I think.
Even crazier, we could dump everyone not nailed down (Thad, Sato, White, Brown) for Wall and 2 1sts. Wall was surprising decent this season, albeit not durable - but it fills the PG hole.
Saw this today https://www.yahoo.com/sports/report-john-wall-contract-buyout-155210654.html
I would definitely sign up for a deal that nets us Wall (and 2 firsts) for Thad, Sato, White, Brown. I think the $ still work if keep White or Brown (I'd prefer to keep Brown).
Given our position, I agree this is exactly the type of things the Bulls need to be looking at as Plan B scenarios (I operate under the assumption Ball is Plan A, but who knows).
