Semien now has the highest fWAR in MLB since the start of 2019 (of players not named Mike Trout).

He's closer to Trout than he is to other infielders like Story, Trea Turner, Corey Seager, and LeMahieu. Also has a higher fWAR over that span than fellow 2022 free agents Correa and Baez, combined lol

Hope we keep him somehow.

Tampa is pulling away. We need a winning streak starting tonight (4 of the next 5 games would be nice.), but as we all know Montoyo will find a way to throw away another game and be satisfied with a split in this series. :banghead:

agreed we need a winning streak.

It's bloody incredible, considering the Rays' payroll.

It definitely is. It's to the point where I have my suspicions. There's only so long they can stay at the top of the league in spin rate while having pitchers jump in spin rate when they join the Rays and then lose it a bit when they leave before I raise an eyebrow. I'm curious to see what happens to the Rays if and when the league starts to crack down on sunscreen and other such substances. It doesn't mean they don't do other stuff well because they obviously do. I'm pretty convinced something is up at this point, though.

No doubt Charlie told the boys before tonight's game that a series sweep (for the Jays) would be unacceptable.

Also: Vlad is still good.

Interesting to see McGuire at C tonight with Manoah going tomorrow, since I expect McGuire will catch Manoah as well.

How the heck did Chisholm not catch that. It wasn't a bad hop or anything. Should have been an easy double play with Tellez running. Seeing lots of terrible defense all around the league this year.

LOL, Panik had his leg right in Marte's path... that has to be some sort of interference.

Apparently the umpires weren't actually looking at the replay when they called him safe.

Maybe they called him safe because Panik block his slide path? What Panik did is like Vlad sticking out his leg down the first baseline towards home plate - impeding the runner.

Not a chance. Fielders do that all the time.

Also, I'm pretty sure Luis Rivera cost them another run by not sending Semien there. Would have been an easy run and that's why he looked pissed.

That says it's a judgment call - my judgment is Panik definitely obstructed the base path unnecessarily. On the replay the runner was clearly out, but the fact that on review he was called safe may suggest the umps came to the same conclusion.
