If that wasn’t already the case, it is now. Better and better jobs keep opening up.
I don't really agree with this.
Ownership has always given a very long leash to coaches and I am pretty sure everyone in the organization accepts this is going to be a lengthy rebuilding process.
It could be a very attractive job for someone looking for the runway to establish a culture and really put their stamp on the organization as a whole.
It's attractive in sense it's one of 30 jobs aveliable in strongest basketball league in the world.
Our previous coaching candidates Adrian Griffin and David Vanterpool , 5 years later, still didn't coach anybody. That's why nba coaching job will always be "attractive".
But in comparison to other aveliable jobs, Pelicans, Celtics, Blazers in particular, it's not attractive.
Most fixable aveliable teams are Celtics and Pacers. Celtics have everything required to me contender next year with few tweaks.
Pacers have 2 allstar level players in Brogdon and Sabonis and very nice assets in Levert and Turner to tweak roster into bright future. And also TJ Warren, who exploded in last year's playoffs will probably play more than 4 games. They are winning 48+ games next year regardless who takes them.
Pelicans are both attractive in sense you have Zion and Ingram, but also hard to balance roster.
Orlando has nobody right now worth talking about in sense of future greatness. Your selling point can't be "lenghty rebuilding process" knowing average lenght of tenure of nba coach is bit over 3 years.
Magic suck this year, next year start off cold, new caoch is already on ice and probably gone at some point during 3rd year.
That's why us landing top 3 pick is pivotal , even for coaching decision. If we strike out of luck this year in draft, we might as well be coached by Greg Popovich and Phil Jackson together and still be terrible team for years.
