Unfortunately, financially this really had to be done in order to be in the mix for future signings and big trades....
So YES I agree the trade in it self is terrible. Probably one of the worst in the league in the last 10 years...what I’m excited about is the opportunities that we’ll have to improve with Kemba off the court AND without Kemba on our books.
IDK, you could argue the 2 best players in the trade are Horford and Brown when you consider kemba can't defend, he's the most overpriced contract in the trade, he's far more of an injury risk than anyone else in the trade, he's a PG who only looks to shoot and doesn't look to pass, he's past his prime, etc.
The pick was gonna be what? Kai Jones, Garuba, Springer, Ziaire Williams or Isaiah Jackson. It's a 50/50 whether that guy would be better than Moses Brown.
And Moses Brown is more established, 2 years in the NBA already under his belt, 21 years old (jones is 20 but has only played basketball for 5 yrs, garuba is 19, springer is 18, ziaire is 19, jackson is 19) so brown is closer to being able to contribute to a playoff team than these 16th pick guys are.
Plus the 16th pick will make $4 mil a year.Brown since he as undrafted only makes $1.7 mil so we even save $2.3 mil there so even better.
