I actually think he's a fine creator who is mostly being safe, as seen by his low TOV%. I also think his team was awful skill wise. Good athletes on defense. That hurts his converted assists. He isn't elite, you're correct. But he gets his offense despite being the only one that can really create points off the dribble on the team. I don't think the ace creator without any fatal flaws is going to be available at our spot. The closest, based on mocks, is Josh Christopher.
The best two way creator at our point in the draft is McBride though. I mean, he's elite on ball and help defense. This game is a clinic on how a player should play defense:
The first half so far, he's shutting down Cunningham when matched on him. Cade looks completely exposed as the PG for them when McBride is harassing him. It's almost Thybulle-esque.
Additionally, he doesn't have the thin, frail frame. +.300 FTr is also encouraging as a future on ball player in the NBA. Finally, it's clear he has complete control of the defense and offense. He's yelling and pushing guys to get in their place. Clearly high IQ. My only issue with him might be being 6'2 and that he doesn't attack the rim as much, but this is the end of the first round we're talking about.
