It's great that Reese had a good few weeks, but I'm not sold on that continuing, at least not in a capacity that's worthy of a starting role. As for Jansen, well we were ready to play Kirk last year despite no MLB or high A experience just to get a break from him.
I'd rather they trade Jansen, but he needs to get hot and quickly to bring in anything decent. Reese is unlikely to bring much of a return considering he passed through waivers 2 months ago.
Short answer is that we wouldn't be trading Kirk to play Jansen or McGuire in the medium-term, but because Gabriel Moreno is a destroyer of worlds who should be ready to start 2022.
At the same time, my personal preference is to keep our powder dry until the offseason. We will and should make moves, but I wouldn't go nuts...buying years of team control is more expensive at the deadline, and we shouldn't be going big on rentals. Get 2-3 solid relievers, but don't overpay for True Closers, and then use our ridiculous prospect depth to make a hard charge at cost-controlled starting pitching in the offseason. Not dissimilar to the Padres in this past offseason, really.
My favourite there would be Sandy Alcantara with the Marlins: he has three years remaining but will get a hefty arb raise, and Miami doesn't like paying people. His K/BB isn't spectacular, but he has taken a major step forward this season by throwing his excellent changeup more, and he limits hard contract very well. He'd cost serious prospect value, but we have the resources and then some.
