Cade I love and think his game will translate so much better in the pros. His team wasn’t good around him at all, and the offense they ran was crap.
Mobley: stud. Best big man defender in the draft. Better than Wiseman overall mostly based on feel for the game. Can shoot it too.
Green: Uber athlete who I was really skeptical of prior to playing in the G. He’s so slight of frame but the dude shot good numbers against grown men. He’s gonna be so dynamic.
Suggs: so solid and poised for a Freshman. Really good size and can play defense and shoot it. Good all around game, love him.
Kuminga: Has the body, and projects to be a good defender, and actually at this stage of his game is probably his best attribute. He projects really well, but he’s more scary because his shooting numbers weren’t very good.
After that we can bounce around.
Scottie Barnes: longgggggg. Might be the most versatile defender in the draft. Can pick guys up full court in a press situation and can switch seamlessly to guard all five spots on the floor. Don’t let the production numbers get you down, because his coach at Florida State runs a legit 10 man rotation and everybody suffers minutes wise. He played some point but is definitely a playmaker. Good athlete too. Not a great shooter by any means though, so there’s the one red flag. Shot looks ok though? Squares up pretty good.
Mitchell: I’ve already gone on about him. But 205 lbs, best on ball defender in the draft. Good distributor at 5.5 assists versus 2 turnovers. Shared pg duties with Butler so he could have had way more assist totals. Fastest in college with the ball in his hands.
Moody: Good length, good defense, up and coming shooter? Versatile. What’s not to like? Just doesn’t knock me over.
Wagner: see Moody……and shrunk in the tournament. That Bothers me.
Sengun: love him and starting to love him more. Shade under 6’9” barefoot. 240. Mans league MVP. 20/10. Shot looks good and moving his game out to the three should open up his bread and butter inside game. Elite footwork already. Really strong base for his age. Really good vision and passer. Had some sneaky flash passing as well. I don’t care that we have Wiseman, this kid looks legit and we could have a Sabonis Turner type of frontline only I think Wiseman will be so much better than Turner, but maybe Sengun only gets close to what Sabonis is. But same mold.
Bouknight: Great scorer. Red flag is the 3 point percentage. Something like 29%. People are trying to tell me he fixed a hitch in his jumper, and he had to do to much for his team….maybe, but I get scared of lye riders in the draft who we’ve seen a ton of game footage on. To me he’s redundant with Poole because neither one is a pg.
Kispert: I was really on Kispert last year before he dropped out of the draft. Back then he was really late first or second round. I’m reluctant to take him at 7 but if we got him at 14 I’d be fine with it. I just think Klay and Jessup make his game a bit redundant.
Duarte: Older but who cares. He’s a great catch and shoot guy with a quick release. He would fit in right away, but again, another Klay and Jessup guy. But Duarte might be a decent defender. I like him.
Juzang: later pick here, but dude has the never quit grit game going on. Pretty versatile as well. I love competitors.
Ayo Dosunmu: guy is getting the shaft as far as draft spot projections go. Severely underrated. He does a bit of everything. Dude averaged 20, 6,6…..no joke. And was a Finalist for College player of the year. I don’t get it. Dude can play three positions. I’m in love with his game. He also has a great video you can watch of his heroics late in games. Cool as ess.
Shariffe Cooper: measured out was better at the combine than I would have thought. He is a TRUE POINT GUARD. He’s got sick handles and can finish. Not a great shooter, but it doesn’t look bad. Played at Auburn. He’s underrated.
Springer: six five point guard with good handle. He’s good, just something isn’t grabbing me about him. I don’t see leader. But I could be way off.
Garza: Poor guy would be top 5 in the draft 15 years ago. He is a legit tank. Measured out at 6’10” barefoot. And the widest of wide bodies. Pick and pop with him would be deadly. Really good post and midrange game. Ok defender great rebounder. Just slow as molasses. But I’m the right system with the right team, everyone will say, how come this guy didn’t get drafted higher.
Ayayi: he was mentioned by Reggae. Solid solid second round guy. Total team player. Does a bit of everything and he’s six foot five. Good defender too. Really pesky good hands. Super smart.
Don’t know much about Garuba, other than a really good defender already. Good man body. Need to see him in some games though.
Giddy: he has great vision and passing skills and is tall. Good handles and feel. Did well this year, but dude couldn’t make his Olympic team. That’s a red flag for me, because if Lamelo was Australian he’d be on that team hands down. So the comparison is kind of weak except for size and passing. Needs to learn to shoot.
Gonna take a break now. Lol
Mylie, great write-up. I agree with virtually everything here.
One note - while I haven’t seen them officially updated, it was confirmed that (Sharife) Cooper’s height was mis-represented and that he is actually in the 6’0 - 6’1” range without shoes. That approximately 3 inch difference will probably cost him 10-15 draft spots. If he was actually 6’3”+ without shoes, he’d probably be a lottery pick, but my bet is that he goes late in the first round (or even later) now.
Honestly, I think he’ll be a great value, I think of him as a super-charged Ish Smith who gets to the line a ton. I don’t think he can really play next to Curry (due to defensive challenges), but otherwise one could argue that he could be a stealth pick for the Warriors at 14, because his ability to create for both himself and others is probably at the top end of anybody in the draft.
