Were any of those guys overpaid on their first contracts (their RFA contracts)? These guys were all stars or fringe all stars on those deals.

I think J Allen could get 15-20mil as an RFA.

I don't see $25m a year, def not $30m. That's ridiculous.

If you are the Cavs, and you draft Mobley, that might be too much money tied up in the C position (projected, as obviously Mobley will only make 3rd overall money the first few years). That's my opinion based on their roster construction, and also a guess as to their unique team financial situation.

I think they have trouble selling out, probably don't have a large fan base (relative to the rest of NBA markets) which means they don't make a lot of TV money. Probably best to stay under the luxury tax, which would be tough to do paying 2 big money centers.

You might be in for a surprise. 23 year olds like him typically get overpaid when they hit RFA since teams try to poach them away. Worst case for them, the other team gets forced into matching an overpay. Otherwise the team gets to steal a young player from another team, even if it takes an overpay

If we hadn’t extended OG and let him test the market he would’ve easily gotten a massive offer from some team too

Allen Crabbe got 19 million as an RFA and he’s not even close to JAs level as a player

So, you think JA is getting $30m.

Ummm. Ibaka just signed for ~10m. When that's available, why sign JA for 3x that?

The Allen Crabbe 19m IS the overpay for JA. Personally, I wouldn't want to pay JA more than $12m based on what other 5's of similiar skill sets get on the market. That's in general, our unique situation might make me offer more.

If the raps draft Suggs, let Lowry walk and sign GTJ after signing JA to our cap space, I would consider that a reasonable team building signing.

We are one of the only teams that could do that, where we have a gaping hole at the 5, the other positions accounted for, and enough flex to offer 18ish m.

Can you name another team in a similar position? Dallas?

When Crabbe got his offer sheet it was a perfect storm. Brooklyn was just trying to get anyone young because they had already traded all their 1sts to Boston. It was their only way to add young talent, and they had alot of cap.

Most teams haven't traded their future, while also having alot of cap room.

You guys got to remember that Crabbe deal came when the NBA Had that Huge TV Deal and average players were getting outlandish contracts that offseason.....Everyone was getting ridiculous contracts and that shortly stopped the following year so i wouldnt really count that

Suggs is gonna win ROY, can already feel it. Especially if we come back with a real centre and no injuries. The leap of us being a “bottom” team in the East (that’s the narrative at least) back into the middle or even top 4 at our peak is gonna help. Also think he fits perfectly with how we play and will look amazing because of it

People need to keep their expectations in check. Its very possible Suggs get drafter earlier than 4 and even if he comes to us, he won't get premium minutes. He'll be developed slowly with fewer minutes.

We don't know that. Nurse up to this point only got low drafted players. We've never seen what kind of minutes he'll give to a lotto pick that's capable of producing right away.

Not sure, but would love to get that pick in a deal for Boucher and another asset and pick up Garuba (assuming we get Suggs) Garuba would be great playing for Nurse.

Still!

why would Ziaire Williams (6th pick) have a better career than Jonathan Kuminga (13th) pick???

Kuminga is one of the youngest players in the draft and is one whole year younger than Williams. Has better physicals tools + performed better then Williams in a better league. Kuminga was ranked higher coming in as well.

Some people may hesitate to draft Kumina because he is young and may take longer to develop but the fact that this mock is ment to look at the best career, i thought they would look past that and have more reasons to rank him higher.

Did you think Donovan Mitchell, OG would have better start to career than Lonzo? Hindsight is 20/20. You never know

Yes exactly! you never know! So whats the rational of picking Ziaire Williams over Jonathan Kuminga?

its just BS. It's just picking something for the sake of it. Probably just trying to go against the consensus to look smart!

Best on who would have the best career? what does that even mean? if you were project to have the best career wouldn't you be mocked higher? what does this mean....so these smart GMs think that Ziaire Williams will probably have a better career but still want to go with Kuminga just for the sake of it.

the reality is. Kuminga is projected to have a better career. Will it happen? no one can tell for certain but like lonzo the projection is completly fair regardless of weather it pans out!

Wood seems like he would be worth more than the 13th pick. I think the Warriors at 7 would be willing to give up their pick for him. I don't see who else even has meaningful value on the Rockets though.

I think even if his stats aren’t as great as a guy like Cade or Green as a rookie, as long as he puts up something relatively close and we make the playoffs, then he will have a very legit chance at ROY

Have a feeling the Cavs will trade Sexton and pick Suggs. Mobley will be our pick.

Looks like they want Garland to be the main playmaker in the lineup. Looks like their angle is Green or Mobley to partner with Garland.

Sexton + Love for Wiggins + Wiseman + 14th. Swap in 7th for 14th if Cavs want more.

GSW would love Sexton and Curry backcourt. Love as stretch C.

Cavs could use Wiggins as SF and then draft Suggs at 3rd pick. Develop Wiseman behind Allen.

Raptors pick Mobley at 4th.

Kreamy wrote:Sexton 'Very Available'

The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly willing to part with guard Collin Sexton on the trade market as the offseason approaches.

According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, sources have said Sexton is "very available," and the Cavs aren't expected to offer him a max contract extension.

Lloyd suggested it is possible the Cavaliers could pair Sexton with veteran big man Kevin Love in a trade to make it more palatable for teams to take on Love's contract.

I like Suggs but not bloody likely lol

Suggs will be coming off the bench for one of Fred or GT Jr, even he impresses he's not gonna get the lions share of minutes ahead of 2 big contracts the Raps just about let the ink dry on lol

Meanwhile it doesn't matter if DET or HOU drafts Cade...he will be starting and more importantly the offense will be built around him. I mean not to mention but also the better player...

Malachi Flynn will have to be our Suggs stopper!

Warriors abandon their decade of ball movement for ball hog and blackhole on offence, immature Colin Sexton...

Surely outside of NBA2K, you see how unlikely that is right?!

Would it be completely off to say Kuminga is kinda like Josh Jackson in the sense that they have the size and tools to be good but all their shooting percentages are bad?

I don’t think GTjr is a lock to start the whole season and also Pascal might come back slowly which leaves more minutes for a smaller FVV/Suggs/GTJ/OG/X lineup
