Sexton is 6'2" with a 6'6.5" wingspan. That's a pretty good measurement ratio.
According to his NBA profile he's 6'1'', but that's not the point I wanna argue. His ratio is good, you're right. But we're still talking about an undersized guard with an average wingspan. Measurements like that put a certain ceiling on a player.
I don't think his measurements have anything to do with his defensive ceiling - his drive/desire/aptitude/instincts on the defensive end do.
Jrue Holiday is 6'3" with a 6'7" wingspan. Sexton has more than enough tools to compete defensively, it's just solely the instincts/desire portion of your initial post, and nothing to do with his wingspan.
Agree to disagree I guess. Having an average wingspan obviously isn't the end of the story regarding your defensive capabilities. But you can't tell me that it doesn't help having a longer wingspan. And there's a HUGE difference between a guy who's 6'4 with a 6'7 wingspan who also is strong as an ox compared to a 6'1 guard with a 6'5 wingspan who dies on every screen.
Yes, as I said, there is hope for some improvements from Sexton. I personally doubt that it'll be significant ones tho. If you think differently about that, that's totally fine. That's what this forum is for after all: to discuss different opinions
