Knightro wrote:Josh Robbins very subtly crapping on the Magic's head coaching search for not interviewing Kenny Atkinson or Terry Stotts.
He was very subtly hinting that he believes the Magic opted to hire the coach who would do what the front office wanted above all else over hiring a coach who would potentially be more stubborn.
EDIT: Marc Daniels immediately caught on and they both very openly are now saying that the Magic hired someone who will take orders pretty much. Someone who will do exactly what the front office wants.

Guys like him lack the balls to be aggressive when the opportunity presents itself, but only get aggressive when their jobs are on the line and almost always end up making a suboptimal move at a suboptimal time. There is a difference between being conservative and just being a massive pu$$y.

With the 5th and 8th pick (plus a ton of other assets), he has the opportunity to possibly get his Trae Young. Nothing in life is guaranteed but I'm betting on Jalen Green over Kuminga and Barnes every day of the week. Let's all be honest, Trae wasn't a GUARANTEE (even though I was high on him) and neither was Doncic but they were worth the gamble. Sometimes you end up with Doncic, other times you end up with Fultz (instead of Tatum). But I'll take that gamble every time. Fultz is one of the weirdest draft picks of all times but drafting the next Stanley Johnson occurs in every draft. TAKE THE GAMBLE.

the balancing act is not overpaying. can we do 5th + denver + Chicago and keep 8th for the next player? I would do everything possible to keep #8 and use those other picks.

I would trade 5+8+Chicago+Denver every day of the week if I'm guaranteed to land Green.
Let me ask it this way: would you trade 5+8+Chicago+Denver for Doncic? Especially knowing that you'll have your own lotto pick next year to go along with RJ, Cole, JI, Fultz, WCJ, Chuma, Bamba, and a ton of cap space?
If we miss, so be it but we took the shot.

There is no Doncic in this draft. Green is nothing like Doncic. Maybe Lavine if he works hard. Doncic was traded for 5 + 10. You want to trade significantly more assets for significantly lesser player ?

5 that year was way more valuable than our 5th pick this year. There is no denying that Trae was a much more intriguing prospect than Kuminga or Barnes. So, 5 and 8 is not equal to 5 and 10 in Doncic's draft. As far as the Den an Chi picks, I wouldn't want to include them but would if I had to. They're protected picks that may or may not deliver much value.

Well in the end it depends how much you like Green. I dont like him that much. Would prefer someone who is better passer. Seems like our new coach also likes passers .

I hear you... the players available are the players available though. I value Green much higher than Kuminga and Barnes (especially Barnes)

i guess i dont view Green as an absolute 100% cant miss, elevates every other player on the team prospect. Would i do it for Doncic? absolutely. Green isnt Doncic.
