My take on the Wolves getting into a Sexton deal:

MIN - Nance is a great fit at the PF spot, bringing defense and versatility as well as some veteran chops being a 4 year college player and general high IQ player. Tremendous locker room presence by all accounts and has previous chemistry with DLO from their time in LA as well. Cedi is in this deal as incentive for our inclusion to take back his contract, but can provide some offense and playmaking off the bench. A big plus in this deal is being able to keep guys like Malik, Jaden, and Naz and not sending out any future 1st round picks.

NY - They really need a PG, especially with Rose possibly leaving. This is an extension of the rumored offer for Sexton where they get back two guys who, in theory, should fit well with Thibs as athletic wings that can D up and shoot in Prince and Layman. They take a salary hit this year, but those two are expiring K's and could be moved at the deadline as well.

CLE - Decide that Nance doesn't fit their rebuilding timeline. Ricky provides a stopgap veteran mentor option at the point for a young team; could probably really help Garland, Okoro, and whoever they draft at #3. They take fliers on young talent in Culver, Knox, and Toppin. Get a 1st from NY (I'm assuming it's the Dallas pick this year) and a couple of 2nds from the Wolves.

Dont think this is good for cleveland. 3 sketchy prospects and a late pick in weak draft for two actual assets.

I keep hearing that Cavs management is under pressure to make the playoffs. Think they need a a starter back for sexton.

This seems like it's coming from the Knicks side so take it for what it's worth.

Wolves paying a 2nd round pick to Toronto to facilitate a S&T. That’s about the price Brooklyn paid the Warriors to get Durant to the Nets.

Philadelphia Sixers get Kyle Lowry, Malik Beasley, Jarrett Culver, Jake Layman & Two 1st RD picks: 2023 & 2025

Toronto Raptors get Ricky Rubio & 2nd RD 2022

Minnesota Timberwolves get Ben Simmons & George Hill.

2021 George Hill salary 10 million salary: $1,275,491 guaranteed, fully guaranteed on 08/03/2021

If wolves cut him, we would have 14 million under the luxury tax to fill 3 spots on the roster

Simmons
DLo
Ant
Jaden
KAT

Balmero
Nowell
Okogie
Vando RFA
Naz

Juancho

11 players, need 14 for NBA roster.

Toronto is likely to need a protected 1st round pick. That's the going rate for "renting out" ~20M in cap space.

If only that trade was real.Beasley,Rubio,Bolmaro,Culver and 2 1st would be a deal worth doing for the Wolves.Whatever they do this offseason really looks like their trying to add another MAX or near MAX player in Simmons,Collins,Turner...ect which would be great but also puts I think a pretty clear cut expiration date on D'Lo as a Wolf long term.No way in hell are you or in reality 4 guys MAX money on a team which would be the case once Edwards comes up for his deal.Think at most whatever we do in the off season your looking at a two year window before cutting ties with one or two players and building around Edwards & maybe Towns.

This literally scared me for five seconds until I realized it was fake.

I had an “God NO!” feeling in my stomach, worried about the Wolves locked into a mediocre future for the next three years

Call me crazy, I think a team with a Towns, Simmons, McDaniels, Edwards, and DLo starting lineup is a top six seed in the west next season and after a regular season to gel, could do some damage in the playoffs.

Simmons as a fourth option in the playoffs is a lot different than him as a second option. Especially here where he’d be surrounded by shooting, including the best big man shooter in the league.

A salary filler expiring (Rubio), a guy coming off a criminal suspension that is a major mental question mark (Beasley), an unproven rights guy not under contract (Bolmaro), a throw-away rookie contract bust (Culver), and two late 1sts for a guy that has been viewed as a top 15 NBA player? Sure, where do we sign up for that?

Between this pu pu platter type of deal and a package with Ant thrown in the mix, i think the Ant package is probably more realistic (not that I would want to do that). Sorry.

Simmons is a major mental question mark too.

And while you can’t compare the severities, Beasley’s issues did not seem to have any affect on … actual basketball. Ben’s…?

I suppose if you don't account for the games he couldn't actually play because he was suspended, then I'd have to agree with you. That said, I remain a big Beasley supporter.

I think Simmons' 'mental issues' at the line will probably creep up on him again, but it seems to me people are blowing his poor playoff performance at the line a little out of proportion. Despite his troubles at the line, he averaged 15-10-9 in the series against Washington, notwithstanding his all-NBA defense.

I think we are already a top 8 team going in with internal player improvement and new staff, scheme etc.

Simmons could be a great fit as a 4th option if we don't give up too much. I'm going to trust Rosas we don't.

Keep the picks

Beasley/Rubio/Okogie <> Simmons/Maxey

DLo/Ant/McDaniels/Simmons/Kat

Maxey/Bolmaro/Reid/Nowell/Layman/Vanderbilt/Hernangomez/Culver …

76ers easily say no. Philadelphia needs a PG who can score in a deal for Simmons. Twolves need to get Lowry over to Philadelphia in 3 team deal to have a chance at landing Simmons. Twolves FRPs, (2 of them) will be part of deal if Rosas can pull it off.

I’m not sure Philly ending up with Lowry/Beasley/and a first from us will be enough. Lowry is a great fit there, but he’ll also be 36 next season.

If a way can be made to get them Lowry (or another PG) and another piece (Sexton?), that’d help, but that’s also a lot of teams involved, making a deal unlikely.

I could also see a three team deal with New Orleans. Ingram is rumored to be available (just a rumor). I could see Ingram to Philly, Beasley and our assets to NO, and Simmons here.

Btw, what is NO doing? I don’t understand the rumor of them just letting Ball walk. He may get overpaid but he’s still a good player. This is just like Sac letting Bogdanovic walk, a mistake.

Seemed to go unnoticed with the Simmons news yesterday.

The Athletic on John Collins:
Across the league, many believe Hawks forward/center John Collins increased his value as a maximum contract-caliber player during Atlanta’s run to the Eastern Conference finals. In 18 postseason games, Collins averaged 13.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 35.7 percent 3-point shooting.

Dallas, Miami, San Antonio and Minnesota are among the teams expected to show interest in Collins, believing he could be attainable as a restricted free agent, sources said. Hawks owner Tony Ressler said after the season that he hoped the team reached a “fair agreement” with Collins. Will the sides find that threshold?

If Atlanta is worried about its cap, maybe a deal with the Wolves can be made. There were talks around the trade deadline.
