Yes, you gave up assets, but if the new one has more value, then you haven't weakened your position to make more moves, you've improved it.

True. It may or may not work out in our favor. How well he fares in a Knicks uni would certainly have a strong bearing on that and we can't say for certain. There is the money aspect of it, a year down the road for sure. So let's just strictly look at overall value.
As far as the constituents of an Obi/Knox/'21 1st, most of us here watch every Knicks game, so we know the value of a Knox. To us, it's nothing, but some other team may still think he's worth a shot because of all the "potential" he had. And sometimes a change of scenery is all some dudes need, though I seriously doubt this applies here. Obi is a little harder to peg, I think at least some teams would be high on him, especially one that was rumored to want him in the draft. It's possible all he needs is PT to blossom. His value to any team without a Julius Randle is likely to be higher in any event. The #19 or #21 pick this year in particular certainly has value.
As far as feasibility of the deal: The key to this deal is Toppin, how highly they regard him will determine whether it gets done.
As far as value: IMO we gain value in it, whether it means moving Sexton again, or keeping him and resigning him. On a team level aside from value around the league in a trade, he's a massive upgrade in a position of need. I'd still love to see us get an amazing passer at the point, but I think you just have to pull the trigger on this deal and take it from there.
