to get an idea of who the QBs and rookie left tackle will be facing in the first half of the season, here is the first half of the schedule along with season-ending defensive rankings and notable edge/line players the bears will be facing:
week 1 at rams (# 8 defense, aaron freaking donald)
week 2 bengals (#30 defense)
week 3 at browns (#18 defense, #4 and #20 edge rushers myles garrett and jadeveon clowney)
week 4 lions (#29 defense)
week 5 at raiders (#21 defense)
week 6 pack (#4 defense, #13 edge rusher za'darius smith, #8 interior defender kenny clark)
week 7 at bucs (#3 defense, #9 edge rusher shaquil barrett, #7 interior defender vita vea)
week 8 niners (#11 defense, #5 and #21 edge rushers nick bosa and arik armstead)
week 9 at steelers (#10 defense, #2 edge rusher t.j. watt, #3 interior defender cameron heyward, #11 interior defender stephon tuitt)
week 10 bye week
i've mentioned that i think the realistic outer edge of fields seeing the field is after the bye week. having dalton face a weak defensive schedule in the first several weeks and then bringing in fields to face the nasty stuff doesn't make much sense (particularly if the team is winning), nor does bringing fields in before the offensive line works itself out in the first few weeks
