Whispers of Gallinari, Markannen, now McDermott? It seems clear that Finch wants a shooter and goal will be to outscore our opponents rather than try to stop them.

There have been a lot of whispers, I wouldn't necessarily make any overarching judgments about how they want to build the team.

Clarke was barely in the rotation by season's end last year with the return of JJJ, but I think he could be a great fit with us. Bledsoe has another year left on his contract as opposed to Ricky's expiring, so we punt that trade contract to the following season, but he's serviceable enough as a backup, veteran guard with some defensive chops.

One interesting side note: The Pelicans now have picks No. 35, 43, 51 and 53 on Thursday, and I don’t think they’re planning on selecting four players for the roster. I’d expect them to sell or trade at least one of the picks and take a stash pick with at least one of the others.

That's actually interesting. I wouldn't include Nowell, especially with Clarke coming off a poor year.

The question would be whether Bledsoe would be interested in reporting. He's apparently not showing up to Memphis, so it might take promising him a starting spot. Which I'd consider, honestly, at least until the deadline where we've hopefully pumped his value up a bit.

I could see Bledsoe similarly to Gallo interest if we're trying to keep a salary slot on the books to combine with other pieces if we don't make the "big" trade this offseason. Tough though as Rubio, Jauncho, and Culver would/could all come off the books next year so do you keep or acquire bigger contacts in hope you can flip it down the road or get to the point where you could at least offer a full MLE and not be over the hard cap?

I like the concept, but not the value so much.

The Grizzlies are active, and after the last trade, Justine Winslow will be gone. They can’t be too high on Brandon Clarke right now, and he’s already 24. He could be useful here, but he’s not a good three point shooter and he’s only 6’ 8” with really short arms (6’ 8” wingspan). I don’t think we want him as our starting PF.

There is a difference in value between Rubio and Bledsoe too, even without Ricky’s mentorship of Ant. Their contracts are basically the same next year, but Bledsoe has $4 mil guaranteed in 2022-23 vs Ricky’s true expiring. So I guess I would leave put the Bledsoe/Ricky part, and see if they are moving on from Clarke, whether they’d want to take a chance on the younger Culver (and a 2nd).

Another thought that is if Ricky is going out, I wouldn’t mind Tyus Jones coming back in a deal.

It’s a smart trade with an interesting team, but these are bench moves. I’d ask to see if there is a chance for a value, because it wouldn’t break my heart ot walk away from this one either.

Based on the feedback given, here's a revised deal expanding to 4 teams:

MIN in: Larry Nance Jr., Cedi Osman
MIN out: Jarrett Culver, Jake Layman

MEM in: Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
MEM out: Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Clarke

CLE in: Jarrett Culver, Brandon Clarke
CLE out: Larry Nance Jr., Cedi Osman

LAL in: Eric Bledsoe, Jake Layman
LAL out: Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

MIN - Take on some extra salary and years, but give up relatively little of value in exchange for getting a perfect compliment to Towns at the 4 in Nance and a serviceable role player in Cedi.

MEM - Pick up some depth for someone who isn't in their future plans (Bledsoe) and someone who has fallen out of favor (Clarke).

CLE - Shed salary and pick up two projects in Culver and Clarke.

LAL - Rumored to be targeting Bledsoe (as well as shopping KCP/Kuzma around) so they pick him up in this deal. Layman's athleticism, slashing, and ability to hit the open 3 should pair well with AD/LeBron. The Lakers also save about $4M in this deal from a cap perspective.

For most of last year I would have moved Ricky for a ham sandwich. Then the final 15 games he played as good as he could and was a great fit here. Shot the ball very well etc.

Later I read an interview where he said he was out of shape, very unhappy with the direction of the team under Ryan who he loved. He hated the covid protocols feeling no love from fans and didn't want to be here. Then Finch took over and everything changed.

I'd like to keep him one more year to run the 2nd group and fit in with the starters as needed. Ant loves him. And he's a great veteran presence. I hope they don't move him unless it's for a key starting PF.

For those of you wanting Bledsoe, he was garbage last year. He's supposed to be a good defensive player but didn't play defense last year either.
Pelican fans were desperate to get him off the team.

I was shocked we traded for him. Would have moved him for nothing most of the year. Then he gets in shape plays decent down the stretch and now is killing it in FIBA. Unless we get real value, I’d want to keep him. He’s an adult Ant listens too. Plus he allows up to play DLo off the ball some, which we’ll need to do if Beasley is moved.

I’m at the point, if either Rubio or Beasley have to be included in a trade, I’d rather it be Beasley.

If Nance is on the market I'd put him at the top of the realistic trade options. His defense, rebounding, and 3pt shooting would be a great fit. If the Wolves could get him for some combination of expiring contracts (a couple of Juancho, Culver, and Layman) plus a protected pick I'd be ecstatic.
