Yeah, Strus has the potential to be a really solid rotation player for Miami. He shoots well, can create for himself a bit, and is a decent defender. Their were times last year I thought he looked better than Robinson or Herro. Still got work to do, of course, but he's off to a good start. I think it's possible that he joins the regular rotation, but more than likely all the wing minutes will be divided up between Jimmy, Robinson, and Herro. That leave 32 for each player with adjustments made up or down depending on the night.
Point guard minutes are far more concerning with our current roster construction. I don't see Vincent as being ready to take a regular role yet, though I love his defensive disposition. I just don't see the consistency on offense, yet. He'll have big games with 20 or more points, then disappear the next game. That's an issue. I think we need a reliable backup behind Lowry. My preference would obviously be Shroeder, Jackson, or Williams on a minimum deal, but that seems unrealistic given our salary constraints right now. So that leaves the undrafted rookie market and Vincent as our options. To be honest, neither option scares me, but to this point, I'm not excited by either.
I'm all for bringing back Yurtseven. I love a big man who can shoot the three and rebound. If he can play defense at all, he's got potential to be a big time piece for us moving forward.
Outside of that, I'm thrilled with Robinson and Dedmon, happy with Morris, lukewarm on Tucker (love his toughness and grit, but his lack of production is concerning to me), and very nervous about Lowry ($90 million for a guy that age?!?! This is a direct result of Chris Paul's season, but I'm not sure Lowry has the commitment to fitness that Paul has displayed recently).
It's going to be an interesting season. One thing is for sure, Riley was pissed with the sweep and decided that we couldn't go out like that again. We won't...
