Lowry wanted to go to Miami(and a few other places) and let Toronto know that last season, Miami wanted Lowry and also Lowry's side floated out what he was looking in a contract in FA to resign with whichever team traded for him while he was still with Toronto before the trade deadline. It's completely feasible that Miami and Toronto agreed to the trade at the start of free agency and then walked through what each side would give/take while already knowing what each team's stance was since they talked about players for Lowry just a couple of months before that.
If Miami were to get in trouble for just players talking and nothing more, my god, the NBA would be stepping into something they can't control.
Last year Bogdan wasn't just in a trade he knew nothing about but his contract was set without him even knowing about it before free agency started, it's a completely different issue.
Even if it does I doubt they will do anything about it. Although the league has burned us before.
I’m ok with the 10 mil dollar fine and the loss of two first round draft picks. The fine is just money and honestly if anything we would trade the picks anyway. That’s a better alternative than a repeat punishment for the same Mgt that was responsible for the Howard incident. To save the Heat we might be forced to part ways with Pat as a scapegoat.
