No doubt should be a fun team to watch, but speaking from a Duke fan perspective I’m not too optimistic about the team. K has been on a pretty steep decline in coaching ability and even with two guys that I think are going to be true studs, it won’t be a big enough talent advantage for Duke to be anything serious next year.
K needs a Justise Winslow and a Tyus Jones for his system to work. I think Griffin can definitely be a Winslow, can a second year Roach be a Tyus? I’m not too sure about that.
I give K some credit for 2015 because ya it may have took over half the season, but he finally did bench Amile and moved Winslow to the 4 and that was the game changer for that team. But ya I agree, K needs those true game changers. Winslow was a game changer when it came to glue stuff and defense, and Tyus was the perfect guy to run the offense.
I’ma huge fan of AJ, but I’m not expecting the defensive impact that Winslow had. AJ has the potential with his size and athleticism, but AJ has some questions with his motor especially on the defensive end. Winslow never had that.
With that said, I don’t think this Duke team will be missing that dog in them though, I expect Paolo to be one tough son of a B, he’s not going to get pushed around.
Again big fan of the two studs, I really like the team especially with Roach coming back and Keels coming in. I just think at this point in K’s career, he needs a marine massive talent advantage not to blow it. And for this Duke team to have that, they need a miracle and get Baldwin to sign.
