What's with Lazor and all these quotes that appear to undercut Nagy's approach with Fields? Has anyone listened to these interviews? What is the context? It's wild if he is saying these things in a way that appears to conflict with what Nagy is doing/saying. How is Nagy allowing this?
It's almost assuredly taken out of context by this reporter in order to serve his agenda of getting Fields to take over.
I just don't get what the big rush is to move Fields in. Dalton did not play poorly, in fact I thought he looked pretty sharp. He didn't miss many passes. Until he plays poorly, and is the reason they aren't winning, I think Nagy will stick with him. It would be nice to see how he does with a full playbook at his disposal. Maybe we will get to see more of that this week.
Andy Dalton was Andy Dalton and that’s the issue. He’s not moving the needle nor the offense for that matter.. it’s probably no secret that Lazor possibly disagrees with sitting fields he sounds like a man who wants fields in their right now. It’s his best offensive weapon and likely knows that Dalton is not giving him the best chance to execute his playbook. But he’s just the OC, and to top things off Nagy took control of play calling this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was irritated with Nagy. Not being able to call the plays on top of not having who he likely thinks is the best QB on the field. What’s the point of having an OC if you can’t call the plays. Nagy is no Andy Reid, so it’s understandable to take the backseat to Reid in play calling but Nagy hasn’t proven anything.
The only logical explanation to sit Fields at this point is if you wanted to give the first 3 games to Dalton and have Fields in there against a soft team like the Lions in week 4. But if Andy is still a starter beyond that, without question Nagy needs to be fired end of the year.
