Yes they do there is no increase cap hit or or lux tax. So Parker for example makes $2.28 mil but his salary against the cap, the lux tax or in a trade is $1.6 mil.

What is interesting is that the real savings is to get a veteran player like Brown or Kornet to take the 2 way deal, as they get $500,000 and can play up to 50 games but do not count against the salary cap or tax at all.

I don't think that is true with Jabari. The veteran discount is only for 1 year contracts (I think). That is why I asked if we could resign him if we waived him now. He would come out on top and we would save half a million or so on the cap hit. Early bird would be gone though, if that matters.

It would be true for any 1 year vet minimum deal though. There is no difference between Anthony Brown, Juwan Morgan, or a 15 year vet....... if we are giving them 1 year minimum deals.

This rule is why the Marc Gasol contract was sketchy to me. Veterans at the end of the line chasing rings don't sign 2 year vet minimum deals. They almost always go with 1 year if they are taking the veteran minimum and the team gets that salary discounted. The Lakers and Gasol went out of their way to make it a 2 year deal. It was curious. I think it was always a wink wink 1 year 5.26 million deal. It was a NFL type deal.

Here from Barcelona. While I agree that Garuba projects to be very good and is very cheap for the next 4 years, he is raw. A lot. And we don't even know how we'll adapt to the NBA game. The guy was a projected to be a top-10 pick and fell to 23 after his last year in Madrid.

Wood is 10x the player and would greatly help our core (given ages and aspirations).
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

I don't think Kornet can be on a 2-way because he's played too many yrs in the league but I think Morgan or Brown can be on a 2-way.

I kind of like Morgan and Brown from the footage I've seen. Morgan looks like a slightly worse Millsap / Boris Diaw type guy - and those were both really good role players at the 4 spot - rebounds, brings toughness, can mix it up inside, set screens, make the extra pass, hit shots, hustle, just make the right play, play his role and doesn't try to do too much.

Brown meanwhile looks like a flat out scorer who is a knock down 3 point shooter but also a 3 level scorer, a wing with good size at 6'7" who can just come in off the bench, get buckets, space the floor and maybe give us 8-10 PPG.

I'm optimistic that at least 1 of them has an impressive training camp and earns a spot.

Parker isn't that bad either, though. Not a bad problem to have, choosing between these 3 guys for the last roster spot.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I would like Morgan signed to the last 2-way. I don't think Brown can be signed to a 2-way because he spent 1 year with the Lakers, (15/16) 1 year with NO and Orl combined, (16/17) and 1 game with Minn (17/18). If a player plays even one game with a team he is considered as having played that season. I could be wrong though.

From RealGM: The rule related to whether a player is eligible to sign a Two-Way contract at all is related to years of service; the rule related to whether a player is eligible to sign with a specific team is related to total years covered by Two-Way contracts with that team. Since a player can be signed to a Two-Way contract and not be credited with a year of service (if he does not spend at least one day on the parent team's Active or Inactive List), these are not one and the same. If not for the rule limiting total years under Two-Way contracts with the same team, it would be possible for a player to play in his fourth season on a Two-Way contract with the same team, while having only three years of service.

DS is here for 1 season, we can't pay him his worth after it (can we raise his pay enough?), this player will only have a chance at a 2way or Maine but we will likely need more guards starting next season.

still hoping for a gem of a 2way or camp guy, , we haven't really brought in many young projects to try on the 2way so I'm not that excited yet, except for doogie.

I would also like Brown on the regular roster over Parker or G. Will.

Agreed. Brown looks like he could be a sniper.

Interested to find out if we end up signing him and bringing him in for camp or not..

I think you can actually get a 2 way for your 4th year (Brown). That is what it says on the G League website. Maybe it changed at some point? I read through cbafaq and came to the conclusion that it was 3, but maybe I was misinterpreting the language.

Chandler Hutchison signed a 2-way deal with Phoenix and he already has 3 years of service.

+If/When the Rockets cut Tyler Bey (rumored) I want Boston to bring him in asap. Don't know if someone else beats us to the punch. Thought this "Bey" was not the one I wanted during the draft, I still liked this one. High energy 3-4 type would at the very least be better than some on the end of his roster.

They made a lot of changes last year I thought they had expanded who was eligible but it looks like it is 3 years or less of service so Brown is eligible and Kornet is not.

Wood may be 10x the shooter right now, but he won't be half the defender Usman will be at the end of the season.

At the end of 22/23 season, Garuba will be a more valuable player, under control for another couple of years while Wood will be looking for big money.

Of course, if you look for immediate impact and "winning now", Wood would help more than a raw rookie like Garuba, but he ain't 10x the player. I can understand the bias from a Barça fan, but that's too much

That said, Wall+Garuba make 47M combined, if you swap Wood for Garuba it's almost 58. Setting aside cap implications, if you want to make a trade for Wall+Garuba you could send Horford, Romeo, Grant and Parker to make it work. If it's Wall+Wood, you need to send Horford plus 15M+ in salaries, which is not easy to do without trading one of your core players, and some draft capital. Not worth it, IMO.

"The Bulls’ offseason overhaul couldn’t have come at a better time, as Zach LaVine is on the final year of his contract with an extension yet to be signed. But if it were up to LaVine himself, he’s reportedly all-in on staying in the Windy City. That’s according to ESPN Chicago radio analyst David Kaplan, who’s heard from sources that the All-Star doesn’t want to go anywhere. Via ESPN 1000 FM: “He has told people that I know: ‘Hey man, if they want me here, I’m not going anywhere. I’m building this thing. I’m the first guy in the door. I wanna be part of this.’” – via R.P. Salao @ Clutch Points"

Definitely seems like Lavine is one of those dudes that'll only become available if the Bulls have a bad season

Maybe if the Nets have a bad season and he's had it up to here with Kyrie, KD will exercise his player option. Why isn't he a target? The Celtics wined and dined him once before.

completely agree. DAL and HOU are idiots for dropping him. I'd gladly take him to be a backup at the 3/4. Of course, he might be a knucklehead which is something we can't possibly know when evaluating prospects.
