I think the main takeaway is there was definitely a power struggle but there was only one winner: Mark Cuban. Hard to know for sure but reading between the lines and listening to MacMahon and Cato on the topic, it sounds like Donnie didn't get fired because he butted heads with Harlabob, but because Cuban wanted to make it clear I'm in charge here period.
Rick I think is more complicated in that Harlabob was just one of the reasons, but yeah when he saw Donnie Nelson dismissed and fairly disrespectfully considering his long and very successful tenure in Dallas I think he wanted to get out while there was a good option for him to land rather than maybe getting run mid-season as a scapegoat?
So I think this is just the final nail in the coffin establishing that what was once a 4 man leadership group of Cuban, Donnie, Rick, and Dirk is now only about one individual: Mark Cuban.
And that absolutely sucks.
Agreed
I for one have always held on to the belief that Dirk won one title despite Mark Cuban, not because of him. if not for Cubes, I really think would be a multi time champion and there wouldnt even be a KG/Dirk debate.
