His issues? He made the playoffs 2 out of 3 years and has a winning record without a real QB the whole time. What were your expectations for these teams? I'd say he's met or exceed expectations that you could have with the talent. I'm not saying he's great but looking back, what more did you expect from this team?

Nagy, to me, is probably a run of the mill head coach when I look at the outcomes he's achieved with this team over the past few years he's been here. I've never sat down and went "wow the Bears should have won four more games this year" nor do I stop and think "Nagy will outcoach those guys!".
He's fine. I'm okay if they can him tomorrow, but it isn't going to be the panacea that many anti-Nagy people hope it is. There's probably a 50% chance you bring in someone worse next anyway. His time has probably come, I doubt he'll be here after this year, and that's also ok, 50% chance you do better next time too and sometimes even if someone was solid, you just need a new voice.

I agree with this. People always want a scapegoat- first it was Dalton, then the O line, now the coach. I would put the blame on the GM more than anything- the talent level on this team is below average, at least on the offensive side of the ball. The defense was supposed to be excellent and be able to carry the team= turns out it's pretty average.
That's not to say Nagy couldn't do better, or that the O line is good. The Bears have not had a good O line since the last time they went to the Super Bowl. It's been a problem for years, and that is a big failure by the FO. Like Doug said, if we replace Nagy, we might do better, we might not. The problems on the team are mainly the talent level, from what I can see. We just don't have great players, and that points to the GM.

yep you install Lazor as interim coachdougthonus wrote:fleet wrote:Doubtful a new coach can come in and do anything much better mid season with this personnel. Yeah, unless the locker room turns way against him, you have to wait until the off-season. That's the only scenario I'd probably fire him midseason. Football is too complicated to try and bring in a new playbook/system midseason and benefit, so you are rolling with what Nagy installed either way. If there is a mutiny, can him and raise an assistant as interim. Otherwise, you have to ride it out.

Gof bless you for saying that

They don’t have a 1st next year.
