I actually typed out a post about this and deleted it because I figured, "Ahh nobody cares" ... I can't speak to people faking injuries in the NBA ... although several teammates called out Albert Haynesworth of the NFL for faking injuries before. But as far as Ben Simmons, I think this is a real, actual risk - he can use this to his advantage *absolutely* ... I used the example of back injuries and didn't even remember he has a history of them ... I myself have had major back surgery before I turned 30. I blew my knee wrestling in HS several times, had major surgery (done by the then-Flyers team Doctor/surgeon! at CHoP!) - and it really was never the same. I spent the next decade+++ ruining my back trying to protect my knee. I was lucky that WHEN my back went, it was identifiable and verifiable ... and now with my surgery, as soon as I tell people what I had done to me, they're like, "OHHH..." - in my general area of NJ back before I moved to FL, I regularly had people say -"OH *YOU'RE* that guy!!!" ... but a huge percentage of back injuries are not diagnosable or unverifiable but certainly, the people are in real pain. All he has to do is play ONE GAME, step on the court, a little while later (particularly after *doing* something) awkwardly wince and hold his back...
https://c.tenor.com/uhkHmkYsMKwAAAAS/soccer-cool-down.gifOHHH IT HURTS IT HURTS IT'S A DEEP DEEP PAIN, OHHHH NOOO, ALL IS LOST!!!
And Kwame is right ... with a Doctor saying "OH NO HE'S SERIOUSLY HURT, HE CAN'T PLAY!!!" in the short term, he's getting paid. In the medium term, he's fighting about it and getting paid. In the long term, he almost certainly gets paid until he's traded. I think that IF he does this, he might actually put other teams off him... but there's always someone who says "Oh he just is doing what he's gotta do... he can come play for us no problem!"
It's a fascinating situation all around. I went from being one of his biggest "fans" and defenders to just wondering how someone who is a 7ft tall All-NBA world-class athlete can literally be the new definition of "punk biatch" ... And contrary to his pity party, this is *NO ONE'S FAULT BUT HIS OWN* ... he wants to be part of LeBron and Paul's Player Empowerment Movement - with certain undertones I need not mention - he can have it. Enjoy ruining your reputation for life. I am not sure what that absolute *genius* jersey-salesperson Agent of yours is telling you - in most of the world, you don't get paid if you don't go to work. You can Kardashian yourself all you want, decide you're an Influencer , whatever. But you don't get your basketball pay check if you
refuse to play basketball...
