Only with AL maybe..I think they should start double big then sub AL early so he can roll with the 2nd unit after resting for a little while.

Missed the Raptors/Celtics game, but caught the highlights. I have to say, on several of Tatum's assists, he was noticeably not looking where he was passing the ball. Every single time too, almost like not telegraphing passes has been an emphasis for him.

This is our best team since 2012.

I mean the Celtics made it to the ECF in 2017, 2018 and 2020 with a combined winning percentage of .661 which is a 54 win team.

We will see.

Yeah, I think we might be better but not get as far due to the competition at the top. I think Udoka is going to prove a pretty significant leap over Brad though. And that's before all the talent we've onboarded and grown.

I think it is comparable to 2017. High floor low ceiling. That year IT was top 5 player and Al was at all star level still. Deep bench that contributed. However, lacked the firepower to keep up with top teams like Cavs with Lebron, Kyrie and Love. This team may have higher ceiling and floor with Tatum/Brown as stars and veterans like Al and Schroeder but the East is much much stronger this year too.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Not only do the Celtics have a pair of teammates who share the exact same birth date -- Schroder and Richardson on September 15,1993...

The Celtics have TWO PAIRS!! Jaylen Brown and Garrison Matthews were both born on October 24, 1996. It's another reason to root for Matthews to make the team.

Jaylen Brown also shares a birthday with red sox all-star Rafael Devers.

Horford's covid is a blessing in disguise. Juancho, Grant Williams and possibly even Bruno are the future at the power forward position, not Horford, who very possibly could be traded at the deadline. Let's see what the other guys can do.

On another matter, I was disappointed to see that the Lakers signed Doumboya to a rwo-way. If Stevens waits too long to fill that second 2-way slot, most of the high upside options may be gone. I do not want to get stuck with another smurf. Luka Samanic, anyone?

Nothing we've heard so far suggests that Brad nor Ime have even the slightest interest in moving Al at ANY point. That said, from a depth standpoint, I do agree that this situation does present an opportunity to see what depth we have behind Al and their potential to fill a role similar to what Al provides this team. I think it may be a little premature to suggest that those guys are the future at that position. None of them have earned that right whatsoever.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Well, if the future at pf isn't one of those three, it will be Tatum or an acquisition whose timeline matches that of the J's. Horford is 35, and no matter what Stevens thinks he's not a long-term solution-- aside from the fact that he's really a center and has difficulty defending quicker forwards in space.

There is a saying I love. Turn your poison into your medicine. With Horford going out, let's see what other lineups and players can be used in case of possible future missed time. Not to mention resting his "old man legs" may be good long term.

The only concern for me is if Boston plays Kanter. I really believe his defensive weakness is too hard to hide. Had any other position been out, we are so deep that we could over come it. but Center is not so strong with either RW or AH missing time.

Tatum article on The Undefeated...

“I just got to be better. I have to elevate my level from being one of the top 10 to 15 players to a top-5 player. I have to try to make everyone else around me better.”

normally I don't get hyped on mere words.. I am more of a prove it (action) guy. But JT believing that he can/needs to be a top 5 player and making teammates better is a BIG step in the right direction.

1) Agreed, I don't think we're trading Al anytime soon. One reason we brought him back is because he has proven over the years to be a good playoff performer - much more accomplished as a playoff performer than Kemba. We're gonna want him come playoff time.

2) Al is more of a center, especially at this point in his career than a PF. But I do agree that Al (and Tatum) being out tonight allows us to try other PF options. Curmudgeon mentioned Juancho, Grant and Bruno but 2 other guys who can play PF who could see the floor tonight are Morgan and Hauser.

3) I honestly don't know much about Doumboya, but I wouldn't criticize Brad for "waiting too long" to fill the 2nd 2-way spot. More than likely, the guys we're going to sign for the 2nd 2-way spot is already on our 20 man training camp roster. The following players are on our training camp roster and eligible for our 2nd 2-way spot:

Juwan Morgan
Garrison Mathews
Theo Pinson

I wouldn't criticize Brad for "waiting around" to fill the other 2-way spot when he's already signed these 3 guys to training camp deals. Sure, maybe if some guy who is clearly head and shoulders better than all 3 of the above names gets waived then Brad will scoop him up, but the odds of that happening are slim. Brad is just gonna wait till right before the season starts and decide which one of the 3 above names will get the 2-way spot.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)
