99% of this board thought Suggs was the guy. The Raptors got a better player with a higher pick!

Yes, but not all have moved on from this position. This just looks like the double down to me, imho.

We assured you that we're getting a lotto pick and that ultimately that's better than getting trampled by the Nets in the first round. If you could turn back time and trade back the pick for some "1st round experience" vs the Nets would you do it? I think not. lol

Last season was a cluster f___, no doubt. I can make peace with that. The problem is most of the people who didn't get Suggs haven't made peace with the direction the team has gone.

If we went Suggs, they'd be blowing trumpets heralding our return and telling us that it's too soon to panic.

I don't know about others but I personally don't see the point in hitching your wagon on one prospect. We all have preferences but at the end of the day we have to ride for the guy the team picks.

Early last year I was very intrigued with Jalen Green on our team, then as the college season progressed it was clear to me Cade was the best player in the draft, once we got the 4th pick and it became clear to me those two were no longer within our reach I started coming around the to the idea of drafting Suggs, I was impressed with his tournament run prior to the lottery anyways and so I didn't think it was that much of a let down.

Barnes was a guy in the 11-8 range for most of the year but shot up after the combine, I was skeptical and on draft day when we passed on Suggs I admit I was upset, but I quickly came around to the idea of Barnes being some super big point guard. Especially with our team's track record of development and someone with his physical measurements.

Exactly, that's the way to look at it. At the end of the day none of us really have any say on who they pick.

It's all about who gets us the most wins going forward.

We're tanking already? We haven't even played game one yet.

I'll reiterate the same stance I have every year on this subject: hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Also, Banchero all the way. Him next to OG and Barnes would be next level. Hardy is interesting too.

My bad brother! I guess it's better to have a dedicated TWO thread, it seems like it ruffles the feathers of a lot of people.

I'm very intrigued by Hardy, can't wait to see him in action.

Like that isn't your goal.

Even after all these months, still a bunch of false narratives being pedaled. Who was calling Barnes a bust when a game hasn't even been played?

Yes, I preferred Suggs, but I'm completely open minded on the player Barnes ultimately becomes. It's why I haven't posted here lately, I've been observing the action on the court and letting that guide me instead of engaging in these arguments fueled by individuals with clear agendas.

Way too early for this talk, with that said Hardy and Paolo look like superstars in the making and I wouldn't be too mad at another losing season for a chance to pick them, if we do indeed suck.

Super early, But I'm TwO over play-in. But I'm saying it now. .

Do NOT want Chet, at all.

Paolo or Hardy for the top picks.

Very few people here want to be in the mushy middle and make the play-in tourney but it's way too early for tank talk. Just from watching the preseason, the Raps aren't a bottom 5 team in the East as currently constructed so it'll take a couple of key injuries to make them bad enough to consider tossing the season.

I’m the same mindset. I think the FO is too (based on last year).

If we’re 7th, great.

If we’re 9th-10th and need to push to secure the play-in: shut it down. I could care less about making the play-in and losing.

We should be boom (secure playoff spot) or bust (tank the end of season if hovering around 10th).

This years raptors team is not capable for competing for a championship, so I am all aboard TWO. Trading Boucher and Dragic for more young assets/picks is necessary.

Another lotto pick will do wonders for next years roster.

I see RealGM is all aboard the Paolo train, just as they were for Jalen Suggs

So much can change in the course of a year for a 17, 18, 19 year old that unless it's a Lebron-type prospect, trying to suss out the #1 pick this early is difficult. I think at this time last year, the top 2 were interchangeable between Suggs and Cunningham. I don't think Green or Mobley were seriously in the convo and Barnes definitely wasn't in the convo.

Let's see what these guys can do with competition slightly better than high school.

Suggs and Cade were only interchangeable for the first month or so of the college season then it became clear Cade was the better player. Most of last season it was Cade.

We'll know who the first overall will be probably a couple months into the college season. It's the other pick ranges (2nd and below) that'll continue to change until draft day.

Yeah it was Suggs and Cunningham as kind of the undisputed 1 and 2 early last year.

Then over time Green's stock started to rise with his g-league play and Mobley emerged as the best big in the draft.

You are right, a lot can change over the next few months.

LOL. Fortunately, the Raps organization is run by sane, rational people. They will take 50-60 games to see where things go and then make a decision on whether or not to tank from there.

This myopic tank or die trying mentality is something exclusive to online keyboard warriors.

Depending on how the season goes we're either just inside the playoffs or just outside the play-ins.

Maybe Im wrong and we have a season where we just go on a huge winning streak and Barnes blossoms in his first year as a star pointforward.

Plenty of time to evaluate.
