My opinion on the matter is this: 1) why is Morey considered this great GM? Yes he gets credit for the breakout of Harden but his Rockets teams were always short of a championship so let's quit acting like he is this FO genius. And 2) Ben Simmons not playing is a negative asset to the 76ers at this point since his contract is on the books and he isn't helping the team out at all. Trading him for a decent package (not sure what that would be) is better than sitting and letting him pout while eating up their cap space and not improving the team on the floor. Hell, role players would still give you something every night in order to help win games and losing his cap space may help the 76ers bring on additional help. Overall this is an insane story and all sides are to blame but at this point I don't see why you don't just cut bait and ship him out for whatever you can get now to move on and build a different team around Embiid.

beating a dead horse but I've been saying this since the season ended. The longer this drags on the worse Simmons' trade value. The "we won't trade him while his value is low" was wrong this entire way.

He tried this. They kicked him out of practice and suspended him.

0.0%

Teams have every right to suspend a player for detrimental conduct and any arbitrator would be on the side of the Sixers here.

Doc asked him to be a part of a defensive play or something. Just go through the motions. You dont need to decline, say yes and half (or even far less than half) azz it

I think Simmons is going to use the "hey man, I'm a human being man, why do I have to follow a contract man, why can't I get paid man, it's so unfair man" defense. It's bound to work.

Morey pretty consistently comes out on the winning end of deals and does a nice job of managing assets. Player relations isn't his strong suit. He was kind of strong armed into the Russ trade, and ran into some injury misfortune (CP3 when rockets were up 3-2 vs Warriors, T-Mac/Yao were both often injured). He pretty consistently puts his team in a good position.

Anyway, Simmons is really putting on a display of next level player entitlement. How hard is it to show up and practice like the rest of your teammates when you get paid 30+ mil a year. If he keeps this up I hope they keep fining and/or suspending him.

In the words of Marcin Gorat: "Listen, you get paid $12 million a year, there is no way you can have a bad day," Gortat said. "You can't have a bad day. There is so many people having problems in the world. What it is your problem? Coming to practice and work out for two, three hours? Is this your problem?"

Why should he get rid of Simmons just to get rid of him? If he does a mediocre, or even bad, deal it won't help much with their championship aspirations plus it'll eat up x amount of cap space.

Morey is waiting it out right now because once the season starts teams might have a different view on where their teams are heading. Someone might decided that Simmons would help them and offer a deal for him. Plus all the players who recently signed contracts will be available to trade in December so that opens up his options.

I don't know if that will work out, or what they'll end up trading him for, but I think that's the plan right now.

That is the plan. The Sixers are fine. Embiid is the alpha - the team follows him. Players become available on December 15th. What if Washington starts 5-and-12? Huh? What if Sacramento is 5-and-12?

The only people who say this is an unsalvagable disaster or dumpster fire are the fans of other teams or the media, who are feeding off of this.

Ben's value will increase due to more liquidity in the NBA trade market on Dec 15? This is how bagholders of a depreciating asset would justify their continued holding.

He’s been at practice

Fact is that the Sixers want to trade him and he wants to be traded so all he’s been doing is the odd defensive rotation with the 3rd string

He spends most of the time by himself

Probably had enough of the bs & told Doc to shove it

Do you not care about your team's championship aspirations this season? Having a malcontent on the bench and locker room.

There are teams that may be interested in Ben SImmons who cannot put together trade proposals that include players they signed this summer until December 15th.

Yep, Ben Simmons is the new Dennis Rodman.

Rodman has showed more passion to win in a single playoff game than Ben has his entire career.

Rodman could be crazy, but when he was on he left his soul on the hardwood. Simmons has the passion of a unhappy 80 year old man going through the motions on his anniversary.

Jordan would literally murder someone as apathetic and whiney as Ben. Hell if he was a rookie he would be run off the team in training camp by Jordan and traded before any games played.

Don't let anyone tell you there's anything wrong with being a Philly fan. If anything, more fans around the league should be like you guys. I would NEVER pay a dime to the Sixers organization to watch BS showboat and pussyfoot around without giving full effort.

>>> 50%. Because Simmons can show precedent of players doing much worse things than he did today and that not being deemed “detrimental conduct”. He would have a very strong case to avoid the fine.

What if Philly start 5 and 12? Or even 7 and 10? What if those other potential trade partners have GOOD starts, not bad ones, and decide they need to trade the likes of Fox for Simmons after all?

Simmons' value has been decreasing steadily not for months, but for years - and yet people keep thinking it'll somehow rebound over the next couple of months while he pulls sh*t like not even doing the bare minimum in training? Lol
